Dear list,
I'm looking for the Maus family in or around Mason County. Family
tradition says that they came to West Virginia in 1872 and settled
someplace where there were salt mines. Phillip Maus and his
brotherinlaw Jacob Rings worked in the salt mines until sometime after
1875. Phillip also had a son born in 1875. They next appeared in the
1880 cenus in Cincinnati Ohio. I hope somebody can help me. Thank You
and have a GREAT DAY.

Could someone tell me where I might find a map of
the various "districts" within the counties? And also
where I might turn for help in locating a person's
"date" of death, when their headstone or the cemetery
book only gives the year? On the latter question, I
realize that church records are a potential resource.
Unfortunately, it seems that many of the cemeteries
where I have located ancestors either aren't connected
to churches...or the churches dont' have full time
pastors.
As always, any help wou

I submitted a post to Mason Co. mailing list last night and it has not been posted yet. Is there something wrong with the site? I don't want to make a double post. Anyone having problems with their posting on Mason Co?
