6. Re: [YKS] MAIL MANAGEMENT AND PC HOUSEKEEPING. [1]
There is a neat little program (that is FREE) called MailWasher that allows you to look at your E-mail without opening it. When you "browse" your mail, you can Bounce your unwanted mail back to the originator and that will indicate that your e-mail address is not valid and 'hopefully' will be removed from the mail list. I have used the program for some time now and haven't had any problems to date. You can find the URL on Google. I don't have any ties to the program developer. Karl Johnson ----- Origina

8. [YKS] Electricity and Refrigerators [1]
Hi All, Such nostalgia; don't forget the large kitchen ranges that were still widely used through the 50's. My maternal grandmother was widowed during 1917 with four young children, and her husband had been a coal deliverer [?] before going to war. My grandmother had, after 1917, her own coal business, which she totally carried on herself, filling the sacks, loading the sacks onto the cart, harnessing the horse and delivering the coal. She kept her own chickens, and pigs, usually two at a time, an

I have a copy of Yorkshire Pedigrees(Reference #8086yks) http://www.rod-neep.co.uk/acatalog/Archive_CD_Books_Directories_77.html If you re-check the pedigree on page 14 you will see mention of Joan married to Sir Henry GRAMERCY I assume the later pedigree (page 308) which shows Joan married to John PECK is an error possible in the transcription John ANNE and Catherine dau. of Thomas PRESTON had (according to page 14) at least three children Jane, Joan & John John ANNE and Catherine dau. of Sir John HOT

12. Re: [YKS] Printing 1901 Census help [1]
When I double-click on a saved image file, the program that comes up is Kodak Imaging. With this, I click on File and on Open Image for Editing. Then, when I click on Print, the printer panel that comes up has an Option button. I click on the Option button and am able to chose the option to fit the image to the page. Then, of course, I have to go to the printer Properties to select the landscape option if that's what I want. You didn't say what program you were using but, probably, you will be able to f

Hi in response to Magdalena refrigerators were still fairly rare in the 50s - they were expensive and it took till the end of the decade for the manufacturers to build up production. When I had my tonsils out in the mid 50s the treat used to be ice cream and jelly when you came round - I did my usual trick of staying under longer than anyone else and missed out on the ice cream as they had no where to keep it frozen there used to have ice boxes - insulated boxes into which you put ice - tended to b

Hi Green Moor and Penistone can be found on Streetmap - go to http://www.streetmap.co.uk/ and enter each name in turn and check the GB place button (the correct Green Moor will have the clue that it is near Barnsley - there are others). You can then zoom out to see how they are located relative to one another. Well Hill is more difficult.
