3. Re: [YKS] North of the Tyne [1]
Dear all The Tyne in question here I believe rises between Tynehead and Borthwick, heads north through Pathhead then east to Haddington and on to Tynemouth just north of Dunbar, all of which is in East Lothian. St. Mary's church Haddington is one possible source of BMD for church of Scotland records, but the most likely source will be Register house Waterlloo Place Edinburgh where all records are kept. For a few baubles they will let you have access to their data. Hope this helps Cheers Frank ----- Original

6. [YKS] Probate inventory of Samuel LINLEY of Gt Woodhouse, Leeds 1742 [1]
Hello again This inventory has already gone to the Old-English list and some difficult words may appear on 'unsolved' pages of Judith Werner's site in the near future. The main question relates to 'Ritts' which realy does look like that and whose 'R' is distinct from the 'K' of kitchen on the following line. I would also like to know more of 'Bartrisses' and 'Damsels'. In terms of family relationships, a Samuel is mentioned in the will of John Linley, of Pool, yeoman, in 1728 and I would be interested
7. [YKS] Sowerby Bridge family history cuttings books [1]
Just a note to thank you all for your responses in respect of these two books I bought on Saturday. They are going to Gordon Dyson (one of the names mentioned) born in Sowerby Bridge who was also at the Halifax Municipal Technical College. Gordon is a member of Calderdale(Halifax) FHS, and will be taking the books to the next meeting on May 23rd, to ask if anyone has connections and then will publish further information in the Society's magazine, "The Scrivener" in June. Many thanks for this Gordon - I

9. [YKS] Bulmer's North Yorkshire CDrom upgrade [1]
Hi all, In view of the decision of ArchiveCDroms to release yet another "cover version" of one of the CDs that I have had on sale for the past 4 years, I have decided to bring forward the release of an upgrade to this CD rom that I had intended for later in the year. The CD that I had been selling contained: 1. Scans of all the pages of the 1890 Bulmer's North Yorkshire 2. Scans of all the pages of the Langdale's Yorkshire Dictionary 3. Maps of Yorkshire: 1. Detailed showing virtually every place of m
10. [YKS] Establishment in Ilkley 1881 [1]
Ok Hazel and I have found a HABISHAW in the 1881 census working in this establishment in Ilkley I can guess what it was but is there anywhere where I can find out a little bit more about it. The customers came from all over the place so if you cant find someone perhaps they were taking the waters. The place is called Graiglands and the heads occupation is given as Manager Hydropathic Estlbmt. including the managers family there were 46 people present on census night. josh Habishaws occupation was Bathman
11. [YKS] Help from the USA please [1]
A friend passed this snippet of information on to Hazel and I is there anyone who read's this magazine who could scan/send me a copy of the article. It will make a great snippet for our HABBISHAW files. Gill I don't know if any of you caught it but in the Milestones page of People magazine this week, it mentions that the woman stalking Richard Gere was transported to Germany and her name was Ursula Something-HABBISHAW! As Oscar Wilde used to say, if I can't be famous, I will be notorious. --- Outgoing ma
12. [YKS] Nail cutter 19th C [1]
Hi everyone, Does anyone know what a 'Nail cutter' did in the 19th Century? I have recently come across whole families of them in the census. A couple of the families moved from Leeds to Birmingham and then back to Leeds in the 1840's, 50's. I have tried Google but didn't get a satisfactory answer. Thanks Judith Armstrong Bacchus Marsh, Victoria, Australia

16. [YKS] Re: HUGHES [1]
Hi! Introducing myself, I'm researching my HUGHES ancestors. Samuel John HUGHES, b. 1789 Liverpool and I believe d. Yorkshire c. 1840. Nathan Clark HUGHES, b. 1823 Liverpool, lived for a period in Yorkshire after his father, Samuel's death. Nathan was an artist who trained in London on a grant from Major Yarburgh of Heslington Hall near York. I am trying to locate a number of paintings done by Nathan over the period 1840-1880. Some of these were given, some sold to Major Yarburgh. These, if they still,

I e-mailed Jayne with some info. from 'The Official Family Tree Maker Fast & Easy' by Rhonda R. McClure for version 9. After reading Jayne's second posting I went back and reread the section on Privitizing.(File>Preferences>Privatize) It is "designed to hide the Birth, Death, Marriage, More About Facts, Medical and Notes information on living relatives." I missed the word 'living' the first time I read it! I, too, would be interested in what FTM says, Jayne. Regards, Linda in So. California Researching

22. [YKS] POSTCARDS [1]
Re Email from Rotherham1@aol.com The entry for Miss CAMBY is very close to my own surname. My mother and father resided at 37 West Street, Scarborough, and 22 Cross Lane, Scarborough from about 1950 until about 1966. The former address was used as a Nursing Home for the elderly, which it still is to this day, but has been enlarged in the last few years. I was not aware that there was a family with a similar name living nearby. I had already checked the Voters Register for the whole of the UK and noth
23. RE: [YKS] 1851 Yorkshire Stray - SIMPSON - Somerleyton, Suffolk [1]
Somerleyton is now the title of one of the Halifax CROSSLEY family, Those of Dean Clough Carpets. So I wonder if when they moved to live in Suffolk - I think it was Joseph Crossley who became Lord Somerleyton ? - they may have recruited Yorkshire folk to work on the estate. Mark Andrew Halifax
