It's always amazing to see new information pop up on the internet -- especially when you have been searching so diligently. Congratulations! Also interesting to see that his name appears to be officially changed from Schilzonyi to Schilzony -- I think you knew that but it's interesting to see it officially recognized. 229. [DVHH] Gross Wilfersdorf [1]
Subject: Gross Wilfersdorf Hello Liz Josellis, You mentioned Wilfersdorf and Sieiermark on an old camp document. If I am correct Sieiermark should be Steiermark, which is a province of Austria. There is a town Wilfersdorf in the Steiermark. It is located almost straight east of Steiermark's capital of Graz and about 105 miles south of Vienna. I think if you wrote to the town's administration (Gemeinde/Rathaus) they give you information on the camp or direct you to the archives where the info is kept.

233. Re: [DVHH] Query [1]
I have a question--could anyone shed some light on the fact that many of my Donauscwaben relatives immigrated in the year 1906 or later. What was going on specifically that they chose that time to come over, any significant event? Also, why leave your parents, siblings, behind, etc. What was the general rule, custom, etc. for this? Forgive my ignorance-- just starting to uncover and do research and its like learning a new language!! Thanks for any info group!! Kati On Jan 6, 2008, at 12:36 AM, ajleeb wrote:

Kati, If you check the DVHH archives, you'll find that the subject of nationality vs. citizenship has been discussed before. In order to not repeat all that, here are some definitions from Wikipedia (those who detest Wikipedia, please hit "Delete" now!): "...Citizenship is membership in a political community (originally a city or town but now usually a country) and carries with it rights to political participation; a person having such membership is a citizen..."
