What I am having trouble doing is following the family link back to NY and the rest of the Adams line. Do you happen to have records of that? His son Ben Neal Adams had a daughter, my Grandmother, Lois Adams Lightsey. There's a memorial at Tumlinson Cemetery that reads: "MEMORIAL TO HOXSIE ADAMS HOXSIE ADAMS (1843-1910) is a direct descendant of two former Presidents of the United States of America:JOHN ADAMS (1735-1826) Second President of the United States and JOHN QUINCY ADAMS (1767-1848) Sixth President of the United States HOXSIE ADAMS (1843-1910) of Ulster County, NY. came to Texas with his wife, Marietta(Dubois) Adams (1847-1932) and their families in 1876. Hoxsie purchased 500 acres of land near Lammburg, Atascosa Co. The road from State 536 to this cemetery was named in honor of Hoxsie Adams and bears the Adams name. His son, Ben Neal Adams (1881-1915) and his daughter-in-law, the former Martha Ann Keith (1883-1970), are also buried in this cemetery. The five children of Neal and Martha Adams are: 1. Zella Adams (1904-1976) mar. Jesse Daniel Holcomb (1893-1973) 2. Lois Adams (1906-1991) mar. Claude Lightsey (1904-1984) 3. Alma Adams (1908- ) mar. Alsie Suggs (1904-1993) 4. Fred Dudley Adams (1911-1916) 5. Ruth Dorene Adams (1914- ) mar. J.C.W. Merchant (1912- )" All of the names here with blank dates are deceased. I'll have to go back and track that down. One of my grandmother's brothers, either LaGrande or Parley (don't ya just love those names?) had a genealogy chart and I remember he made changes on it but didn't say where or why he changed it. I never did get a copy of it, but I didn't pay much attention to it because he didn't document his changes. Orson Bennett married Susanna Smith. Their daughter Susanna Adams married William Silas Harris. William Silas and Susanna Adams had my grandmother, Leona Acenath Harris. Leona married George August Kuhn and their son, Karl Henry Kuhn was my dad. William Silas and Susanna Adams had like 13 kids. I have the group sheet aroud here someplace. It is one my grandma Leona filled out. Orson came West with the Mormons. Are you LDS? Just curious, it doesn't make any difference.
