<title>[AMICK] FW: AMICK Family y-DNA study</title>
<link>http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/AMICK/2008-12/1230589956</link>
<description>Hi Cousins,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;I got this notice about an Amick/Amy/Emigh/Amigh Y-DNA study. I hope some of&#x3C;BR&#x3E;you fellows will step up and join the study! I&#x27;m Amick in the maternal line&#x3C;BR&#x3E;myself, but I have had my brother tested for a y-line study under our&#x3C;BR&#x3E;surname and it is a really fascinating tool!&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Rowan&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;---------- Forwarded message ----------&#x3C;BR&#x3E;From: Fredric Z. Saunders &#x3C;fzsaund@ix.netcom.com&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Date: Wed, Sep 10, 2008 at 1:20 PM&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Subject: AMICK Family&#x3C;BR&#x3E;To: &#x22;Fredric Z. Saunders&#x22; &#x3C;fzsaund@ix.netcom.com&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Hi,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;I found your listing on the Rootsweb Surname List as listing AMICK.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;http://rsl.rootsweb.ancestry.com/#search&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;A new y-DNA project has been started for AMY-AMIGH-EMIGH, etc. families.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/amy/&#x3C;BR&#x3E;At present there are two persons that have tested, which may be seen&#x3C;BR&#x3E;under &#x22;y-Results&#x22; on the above page.  In order to test, a person must&#x3C;BR&#x3E;be a direct-line male descendant of an AMICK, as y-DNA passes&#x3C;BR&#x3E;virtually unchanged from father to son. If you know of such a person&#x3C;BR&#x3E;that would qualify to test, please either refer them to the site, or&#x3C;BR&#x3E;have them contact me.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;We are hoping that in testing additional lines that persons may be&#x3C;BR&#x3E;able to make connections to earlier ancestry.  Even if you are not&#x3C;BR&#x3E;eligible to test, please consider adding information on your line&#x3C;BR&#x3E;under &#x22;Pedigrees&#x22; at the above site, as eventually someone from your&#x3C;BR&#x3E;line may test.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;If you have any questions, please contact me.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Rick Saunders&#x3C;BR&#x3E;AMY-AMIGH-EMIGH y-DNA Project Coordinator&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;------ End of Forwarded Message&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;

<title>[AMICK] Lucy Blackwell/Courthland/Sacto Ca., Area</title>
<link>http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/AMICK/2008-02/1203575917</link>
<description>  Once Again I am reposting this message, in hopes that someone can help&#x3C;BR&#x3E;me find Lucy Blackwells Descendants to return a Photo of Lucy to her &#x3C;BR&#x3E;family :) I&#x27;m beginning to Question if Blackwell is her correct name,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;so maybe someone will remember a family story about the ranch &#x26; help me&#x3C;BR&#x3E;identify (Lucy):&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;   Looking for the descendants of Lucy Blackwell. I Have a picture&#x3C;BR&#x3E;of her holding an advertisement of FDR for President on the cover of the &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Post Magazine, not sure of the year that this Post Mag., was issued.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;This picture was taken at our family ranch (1863-1969), near Courtland &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Ca., along the Sacramento Delta. Heading towards Rio Vista Ca/Bay Area.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;   Lucy&#x27;s a Beautiful African American Woman. Maybe in her 40-50&#x27;s.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;I believed she may have lived in Sacramento, and had family there.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;But am not sure..........&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;  Courtland is about 23 miles from the South area of Sacto, were &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Freeport Rd turns into the River Road. Along the Sacramento Delta. I&#x27;m &#x3C;BR&#x3E;not sure how long she worked for our family, but know she was treated as &#x3C;BR&#x3E;family by the Picture. This was the former Runyon Ranch pre 1926 and was &#x3C;BR&#x3E;the Rippon/Amick Ranch after 1926, also known as Amicks Pony Farm with &#x3C;BR&#x3E;105 ponies &#x26; playground equipment, free to all children, during the 40&#x27;s &#x3C;BR&#x3E;till Aug., 1953. And known as Amicks Florist Service from about &#x3C;BR&#x3E;1948-1954. (I mention this past history hoping it might jog someone&#x27;s &#x3C;BR&#x3E;memory of their, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister or family members &#x3C;BR&#x3E;story about working at our family ranch.) She worked in the home &#x26; it is &#x3C;BR&#x3E;possible that she lived on the ranch, as we had several small houses for &#x3C;BR&#x3E;workers, and a maids living area in the house.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;   I have been searching for Lucy for years, with out any luck. Lucy&#x3C;BR&#x3E;may be her nickname??? Any advice greatly appreciated. I strongly&#x3C;BR&#x3E;believe that her family, as with all families should have their family &#x3C;BR&#x3E;pictures &#x26; documents returned to them, their children, grandchildren or &#x3C;BR&#x3E;their descendants.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;    I have had several researchers, take their time to search for me &#x26; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;send me pictures of my family &#x26; descendants, that they came across or &#x3C;BR&#x3E;had. I am forever grateful to them for their Compassion &#x26; Kindness &#x26; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;have done the same for others, but Can&#x27;t Seen to Find Lucy&#x27;s Family.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;   If any one knows the year the FDR was on the cover of the Post, I &#x3C;BR&#x3E;might be able to find her through the census records, Again any advice&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Appreciated.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;                    Sincerely Katherine&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;
