Your William is either the son of James Antill and Jane (Blair) or William son of Thomas Antill and Annie (Roberts) or William son of Enoch Antill and Jane. I'm still trying to work it out. Have you obtained William & Sarah's marriage certificate? It will give his father's name and I can then give you more background. I am looking for data on ancestors and descendents of Elmer Antill, his father was Jessie Antill born about 1834 in Ohio I would also like to know the ethnic heritage/nationality Elmer Antill was a non-Indian (possibly Scottish) ...from out east. (Virginia) Elmer may have been a twin. Elmer may have started school (1st grade) as a teenager. Elmer may have left home shortly after, headed for Minnesota/Canada. Elmer married Amanda Jourdain and they had 10 children, some of the children were born in Kimberly Aitkin Minnesota area. Amanda was born 1861 in Hinkley, MN Amanda died October 17, 1915 in Mahnomen county Minnesota. Amanda was a French Canadian Indian. Elmer moved the family to Mahnomen county in 1904. Elmer fought the Hinkley fire. He trapped the Rainy Lake - International Falls area and had a commercial netting license on Rainy Lake He also trapped in Canada.... he had a cabin and trap line up there. He would return in the Spring wuth his furs. They settled near Lengby, Minnesota and had farm. The home he (Elmer) built on the farm was a plantation style house and he had access to barrels of tobacco. He ordered tobacco(Peerless) from Virginia and he smoked a pipe. Elmer and Amandas children should allhave been born Antill, but all in this generation it changed to Antell so somewhere around 1900-1920 is when it changed to Antell Out East links ? Elmer may be Elmer E. Antill I have heard it may be Eugene but it is unconfirmed Elmer was born October 19, 1862 in Jackson County, VA he died July 23, 1940 in Mahnomen County Minnesota (I have confilcting dates on his birth) Elmers father was Jessie Antell born about 1834 in Ohio Subject: Jackson County there was a story that Elmer Antill was a twin, and that Elmer left home at the age of 16 and went to Minnesota, and that his twin never left his WVa home. The data so far does not have anything which would suggest the existence of a twin,..... but it also does not clearly conclude that there was not a twin. Birth date of Elmer October 19, 1862 or Oct. 17, 1861 (have conflicting information) So far there is the following children descended from Jessi Antill (born about 1834 in Ohio): With 1st wife Susan: in Jackson County VA Elizabeth, age 4 in 1860, so DOB ~1856 James, age 2 in 1860, so DOB ~1858 Elmer DOB~ 1862/1862 no mothers name on the birth certificate ??? Marriage Records, Jackson Co. Jesse Antill was married to Mary Jane Ferrell,(born about 1835 in Jackson Co WV) on 8 Aug 1872 in Jackson Co West Virginia. She was previously married to James. James died before 1872.....any children born to Mary Jane and James Jones ? With 2nd wife Mary Jane: in Jackson County VA William Antill, age 16 in 1880, so DOB ~1864 Kate F. (Florence), age 14 in 1880, so DOB ~1866 ***Henry W Antill, age 6 in 1880, so DOB ~1874 Speculation: I am suspecting that Mary Jane Ferril married James Jones,then he died, and she married Jess Antill on 8 Aug 1872. And that her father is the John Fevill or Ferill living with them in the 1880 census.(below) ***Note: If they married in 1872 then only Henry was born into that marriage (up to the 1880 census anyway, but she was 45 so was likely done bearing children at that time) ***** If Susan died between 1860-1866 there maybe another spouse or partner involved, or William and Kate were born prior to the marriage or they may be Mary Janes children from her previous marriage . ******** The 1860 census of Jackson County Virginia has: Jessie Antill 27, and Susan Antill age 25, with Elizabeth age 4, James age 2 ***Clerk of Court in Jackson County Virgina has Elmer Antill born in 1861, Jessie remarried to Mary Jane Jones or Mary Jane (Ferill or Fevill) (therefore, Mary Jane would be Elmers' stepmother ? *****Elmer was born after the 1860 census and left home before the 1880 census. (so was likely in Minnesota, Wisconsin, or Canada at the time) 1880 Census of Anthony Creek, Green Briar, West VA has: Jessi Antill age 46, Mary Jane Antell age 45, William Antill age 16, Kate F.
