Both of which died in Marshall Co., MS and are buried in New Salem Methodist Church Cemetery, Marshall Co., MS. Two of their sons came to Arkansas, William Henry Jimerson, born 1862 in Marshall Co., MS. He married, December 27, 1893 in Woodruff Co., AR, Adrian Leona "Addie" Patterson, born March 30, 1866 in Gadden, Tennessee. William Henry Jimerson died May 09, 1935 in Conway, AR and Adrian Leona "Addie" (Patterson) Jimerson died November 14, 1943 in Heber Springs, AR. Both are buried in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Woodruff Co., AR.
Walter William Jimerson, Sr. was born December 29, 1885 in Mississippi and married, October 01, 1913 in Woodruff Co., AR, Nelle B. Brazeale, born November 22, 1891 in Woodruff Co., AR. Walter William Jimerson, Sr. died July 31, 1947 and Nelle B. (Brazeale) Jimerson died December 11, 1962. Both died in Woodruff Co., AR and are buried in Augusta Memorial Park Cemetery, Augusta, Woodruff Co., AR.

There were probably many families who came to Woodruff County from Marshall Co., MS, but one family that I can think of was the Best family from Marshall Co., MS.
You probably remember Charles Porter Best, owner of Best Drug Store in McCrory.
Abijah Best was born 1801 in South Carolina and married Judie Mason, born about 1801 in Tennessee.
Abijah and his wife built a log cabin sometime between 1830 and 1835 at Red Banks, Marshall County, MS. The old log cabin is still standing today and is still occupied by a family. It has two large rooms downstairs, each with a huge fireplace. Apparently the children slept in the loft. The kitchen was detached and also has a huge fireplace. This old cabin is known today as "The Best Family Cabin" and has become a historical landmark there.
Abijah Best died after 1870 and Judie (Mason) Best died after 1860. Both died in Marshall Co., MS and both are buried in Tallaloosa Cemetery in unmarked graves, Marshall Co., MS. They had eleven children, one of which was William Porter Best, born January 21, 1825 in Lauderdale Co., AL. He came to White Co., AR and settled at Judsonia. He married four times. Three of his wives preceded him in death and are buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Judsonia, White Co., AR. He died November 09, 1913 and he is also buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Judsonia, White Co., AR. He had 7 children by his first wife and one by the third wife. One of his sons by his first wife, Elizabeth J. Young, who he married in Marshall Co., MS, was William Washington Burrow Best, born May 13, 1848 in Marshall Co., MS, married, May 30, 1877 in Judsonia, White Co., AR, by W. H. Taylor, Miss Malinda F. Petty, born 1854 in Tennessee. Malinda F. (Petty) Best died 1898 and William Washington Burrow Best died!
in 1907. Both died in White Co., AR and are buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Judsonia, White Co., AR. One of their sons was Charles Porter Best, born November 07, 1884 in Arkansas. He married first, July 08, 1909 in Woodruff Co., AR, Allie Mae Hicks, born May 30, 1886 in Arkansas. She died March 04, 1913 in McCrory, Woodruff Co., AR and is buried in Fakes Cemetery, McCrory, AR. They had two children; Derwood Best, and Myrtle Rose Best.
Charles Porter Best married next, June 04, 1922 in Woodruff Co., AR, Fannnie Rose Cheney, born June 28, 1889 in Kinsonville, Ill. She died April 18, 1967 in a hospital in Little Rock, AR. Charles Porter Best died August 05, 1979 at the hospital in Woodruff Co., AR. Both are buried in Fakes Cemetery.
He was a retired pharmacist and former owner of Best Drug Store. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and many other offices of the church, a member of Colony Lodge 190, Eastern Star and Arkansas Pharmacists Association.
Charles Porter Best was president of the Rotary club in Woodruff County in 1941. He was honored by the State Pharmacy Group in 1966.

All the Woodruff County cemeteries have been updated through December 10, 2008. The Augusta Memorial Park Cemetery and the Fakes Cemetery have both been updated with all old and new burials through December 10, 2008. Each are available in book form and can be ordered by contacting me at Gary Telford, P. O. Box 282, Bald Knob, AR 72010 - 501-724-2490 - wgt@centurytel.net

Hope this helps you Pat.
Best regards,

Gary

Important Note:
The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I know of one such family -- or at least a brother or two -- who did that (I speak of Will Jimerson and his brother Walter). Were there other families who made that migration? I know you know they lived in the McCrory-Augusta area.

Important Note:
The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
