Kay(e) is mentioned several times as of course are the others mentioned. I vaguely remember a Fred Poole being mentioned when I was a child so am wondering if there is a connection there. I noticed I left the e off the Pool for my Grandmother. If anyone is interested I'll transcribe some if not all of the diary and send it. I think it was written about 1950 when she visited Norfolk Island though the year isn't mentioned it was written between June 13 and August 18. The only clue to the year is where she mentions the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester having been there a few years earlier and in brackets 1946. The names mentioned in the book include a Tom Bailey, an Aunt Charlotte (who may have been Charlotte Bailey) Gwen, Gordon, Flora, Marie and Kay. Also mentioned is a Mrs Beck whose Mother apparently lived in Mt Eden Auckland, quite close to where my Grandmother lived in Pencarrow Ave, Mt Eden. I have a feeling Gwen and Flora were either very dear friends or relations and am hoping some kind person may have some idea of who they were. I also think Gwen may have owned or managed a boarding house as my Grandmother mentions people arriving from Auckland and Sydney to stay. Moira's mother Pearl is buried on Norfolk & I have seen & photographed her grave, but my main interest now is in tracking down Moira & her family. It has taken a while because of the fact that whilst the stones were being restored I thought that it would be best to wait until they were completed before finishing the book project and then it took a little while to get backing so as to be able to afford to print it. It is in general a genealogy report with pictures of some of the original Pitcairners along with some diary entries that deal with their deaths and burials. Whilst some people will argue dates etc. it has all been done from Official Registers. I even disagree with some of the registers dates but as you know the Official Birth Death and Marriages Registers are the Bible as far as officialdom goes. You will even see that dates on some of the stones differ from the register dates but once again the register is the boss. Have attached some pics of the book for you to get an idea of what we have put together. The book will be available straight from us for those that want to deal directly with us.
