I have lots of HALL and about 15 HALLS. My connecting surnames for HALLS are - BRADLEY, MOLLOY, NARBETH, BOYD, CATLOW and you. In 2003 I have your father as William Thomas HALLS born in 1905 but no mother ??? no dates and no family - I just have your husband as Mr. Candy. My notes say you have BOYD information, and I would appreciate anything more you can give me please. I have Elizabeth Boyd (no information), but married to Robert Chant born about 1818 (no info), but with three children. I have Samuel Boyd (no info) married to Annie Halls born 1884 and married 10/12/1910, with two children. Anything you can give me would be very welcome. The earliest mention I have of it is on a marriage certificate from 1858. It also appears on GEE certificates I have from 1858 and 1859. Also Abbotsford? I think it may have been a house in the Blackstone Rd/Booval area? My gggrandmother, Rhoda ROBINSON, was living there in 1861. Also anything about Iffley? A map in the Newtown/Silkstone S School Centenary booklet has 'J R Atkinson (Iffley)' marked on it in an area near Walsh St (just west of the Newtown Estate, I believe). My ggrandfather was born at Iffley, Ipswich in 1865 according to his birth certificate. Can't say that I do and I know nothing of the Volunteer Band. Sorry to disappoint you. My only assistance for you is that I keep in touch with the Ipswich Genealogical Society and find them quite a good group. They publish a magazine in which you could advertise. I was in Ipswich in September and met the librarian at Ipswich Library who is co-ordinating "Picture Ipswich" and was in the library as they were looking through some of the early photos of WF Whitehead, long-term Ipswich photographer, which had been donated to the library. Hopefully you'll locate some photos through your enquiries. As I'm not sure where you live the following might be of assistance - the local paper is "The Queensland Times, which has been published for well over 10o years. A local "free-bee" paper is "The Advertier" (from memory).
