<description>Hello.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Someone contacted me on this list a while back in regard to the photo of HMAS Orara on this website:&#x3C;BR&#x3E;http://users.bigpond.net.au/elliget/ausran/wecosh/wec04.html&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;At the time, I was in England and didn&#x27;t have access to the original, higher-res scans of these photos but I&#x27;m now back in Australia and will be able to access these next weekend when in Melbourne (currently in Brisbane).&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;If the person is still subscribed, please contact me via this list.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Regards,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Martin Elliget&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;      &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;

<description>Paul.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Sorry, I don&#x27;t where I got Peter from (I guess you can be thankful I didn&#x27;t&#x3C;BR&#x3E;say Mary). My apologies.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;I meant to add, I have higher res versions of those photos I scanned in,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;including that one of the Orara crew, but unfortunately currently on a pc in&#x3C;BR&#x3E;a storage box somewhere in Brisbane. I will hopefully be heading back to&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Australia mid-year, so will have access to them then.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Regards,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Martin&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;-----Original Message-----&#x3C;BR&#x3E;From: Martin Elliget [mailto:melliget@btinternet.com] &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Sent: 24 January 2008 21:52&#x3C;BR&#x3E;To: &#x27;aus-ran@rootsweb.com&#x27;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Subject: RE: [AUS-RAN] small ships&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Hi Peter.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Welcome. <description>Hi Geoff.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;The NAA have the RAN service record of Harold Thomas Mogg online.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Title: MOGG HAROLD THOMAS : Service Number - 33757 : Date of birth - 31&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Jul 1928 : Place of birth - MUDGEE NSW : Place of enlistment - SYDNEY :&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Next of Kin - MOGG ELLISS&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;http://naa12.naa.gov.au/scripts/ItemDetail.asp?M=0&#x26;B=4530123&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Click on the link, then &#x22;View digital copy&#x22;. Select the Enlarge option&#x3C;BR&#x3E;(top of image). You can save a copy by right-clicking on image and&#x3C;BR&#x3E;selecting &#x22;Save Picture As&#x22;.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Unfortunately the quality of some of the RAN service records is not the&#x3C;BR&#x3E;best and this one is no exception. It&#x27;s very hard to read in parts.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;However I think I can make out the word &#x22;Manoora&#x22; on the front of the&#x3C;BR&#x3E;card (the first image).&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;I find that hard to read writing like this can sometimes be enhanced by&#x3C;BR&#x3E;making a negative of the image in whatever graphics application you are&#x3C;BR&#x3E;using and playing around with the contrast (a temporary copy, of&#x3C;BR&#x3E;course).&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;You&#x27;ll find some ships&#x27; histories on the RAN website:&#x3C;BR&#x3E;http://www.navy.gov.au/spc/history/shiphistorymain.html&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Regards,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Martin Elliget&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Pinner, Middlesex&#x3C;BR&#x3E;England&#x3C;BR&#x3E;AUS-RAN list admin&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;-----Original Message-----&#x3C;BR&#x3E;From: aus-ran-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:aus-ran-bounces@rootsweb.com]&#x3C;BR&#x3E;On Behalf Of Geoff&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Sent: Monday, 25 June 2007 3:31 AM&#x3C;BR&#x3E;To: AUS-RAN-L@rootsweb.com&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Subject: [AUS-RAN] MANOORA SHIPS COMPANY - HAROLD MOGG&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Sir&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;I am trying to find out if Harold Thomas Mogg, my father in law, served&#x3C;BR&#x3E;on the Manoora around the end of the war or post war. I believe he&#x3C;BR&#x3E;travelled to Japan as his daughter has Japanese items she received from&#x3C;BR&#x3E;him. <title>[AUS-RAN] MANOORA SHIPS COMPANY - HAROLD MOGG</title>
<link>http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/AUS-RAN/2007-06/1182738673</link>
<description>Sir&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;I am trying to find out if Harold Thomas Mogg, my father in law, served on the Manoora around the end of the war or post war. I believe he travelled to Japan as his daughter has Japanese items she received from him. I know he was in the RAN around the end of hostilities but my research has failed to track him down. If he proved to be a member of the Manoora&#x27;s ships company I am happy to provide you with photos of Harold in uniform.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Geoff Hurling&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;
