Welcome!

I am Manaia Alofa the list administrator for
Rootsweb's
AUS-VIC-HISTORY-INDEX mailing list. You can contact me
personally at
AUS-VIC-HISTORY-INDEX-admin@rootsweb.com.

A mailing list for news and discussion related to the
VicHistory site at
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~nuttall, a
site dedicated to the history of Victoria, Australia.
.....

I give a wide latitude to list discussion because I
believe that the list is here as a research tool for
you, the subscriber. However there are some things
that should not be posted to the list:

1. Remember that all messages to the list are archived
by Rootsweb and can be seen by *anyone* at any time by
clicking on the Archives link on the Rootsweb home
page. Keep that in mind and look your message over
carefully before clicking on "Send". If you wouldn't
want your mom, spouse, best friend, or clergyperson
reading what you wrote, you probably should send the
message privately.

2. E-Mail Forwards that are Virus-warnings, Jokes,
Chain Letters, etc., no matter how dire, funny or how
worthy the cause. If you think the list needs to hear
about it, then please email me personally for my
thoughts.

3. Flames or rude emails critizing another
subscriber's posting. If someone makes a mistake and
it is a problem, I will take care of it. This is a
list for including people, not excluding them. We
need to all work together to solve our research
problems.

....

Again, Welcome and Enjoy!
--Manaia
[List-Admin]
AUS-VIC-HISTORY-INDEX-admin@rootsweb.com

__________________________________________________
Do You Yahoo!?
Tired of spam? While it is quite possible that an
old website has
Moved or no longer exists, it is also possible that
the website is
Still there, but the specific page link has changed.

Try "backing up" or removing the ending of the URL and
leaving only
The domain. For example, if the broken link is
http://www.rootsweb.com/~palackaw/marriages/marriage44.html,
try going
To http://www.rootsweb.com/~palackaw/marriages/ or
http://www.rootsweb.com/~palackaw/. You could find a
new link to the
Data you are seeking from this page of the website.

CONCLUSION
The mailing list archive search engine has opened up a
new world
Of list posts that were always there but were
previously buried and
Hard to find. I am trying to find when James Marshall who married Eliza Ford
> arrived in Victoria. James had a hotel in Rutherglen called His
> Lordship's
> Larder and later the Endeavour hotel at Wahgunyah. He also built the first
> steel paddlesteamer on the Murray, it too was called the Endeavour. Jame's
> was nicknamed "Old Forty" for some obscure reason.
>> I am wondering if anyone is researching the family or can point me in the
> right direction. I have his marriage certificate and death certificate
> stating the he was born in London to Edward and Elizabeth Marshall nee
> Godfrey but I can not find the anywhere.
>> Thanks in advance
>> Julie
>> -----------------------------------
>> Topic: A mailing list for news and discussion related to the VicHistory
> site at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~nuttall, a site dedicated
> to the history of Victoria, Australia.
>> -------------------------------
>> To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to
> AUS-VIC-HISTORY-INDEX-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe'
> without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
>
> -----------------------------------
> Topic: A mailing list for news and discussion related to the VicHistory
> site at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~nuttall, a site dedicated
> to the history of Victoria, Australia.
> -------------------------------
> To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to
> AUS-VIC-HISTORY-INDEX-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe'
> without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
