Baird, 83, Brandenburg, died Nov. 4, 2008, at Medco Center of Brandenburg. He was born Feb. 15, 1925, in Jellico, Tenn., to the late Clifford H. and sue (Jones) Baird. He was retired from the United States Postal Service from the Louisville area, a World war II Veteran of the U.S. Marie Corps where he saw service in the Pacific theater, a former president of the Brandenburg chapter of NARFE, member of the Brandenburg United Methodist Church, a former president of the Meade county Senior Citizen Center and a member of the Irvington Masonic Lodge #868 F&AM. Mr. Baird is survived by his wife, Billie J. Baird, Brandenburg; three daughters, Carol Stinson, Louisville, Sue Baird Clarksville, Ind., and Darlene Maples, New Albany, IN., five sons, Wade Baird, Thomas C. Baird, both of Clarksville, IN., Dennis Lee Baird, Fordsville, Chris Baird, Brandenburg, and Edgar Lee Baird; two stepsons, Tim ricketts, Mt. Sterling, and David Ricketts, New Orleans, La; and a brother, Jim Baird, Harrogate, TN. Age 83 years, 8 months and 17 days. Tom died in Brandenburg, KY and will be buried at the Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Jeffersonville, IN Saturday, November 8, 2008. He is survived by his wife Billie Ricketts Baird, daughters Sue Baird (Muncie), Darlene (Maples) Tom , Wade and several adopted sons. Tom was a veteran of WWII, USMC, Korean war, Air Force Reserve. Unfortunately, I think many people have become extremely sensitive and react to email from Africa, probably because of all the "Nigerian" scams that have been going on for so many years; especially since the advent of computer email. Thanks for listing your contact info and other verifying information to help alleviate those fears and concerns. Don't worry about it. You have just as much right to post as anyone else. In answer to your question about combining the three mail lists (BAIRD, BARD, & BEARD) I think it is safe to say that they are for the most part quite distinct here in the US since the advent of literacy, but almost everyone has some documented or anecdotal information that tends to show various kinds of intertwining (including DNA connections) between the three surnames. The more literal occurrences often took place in the early frontier days and/or in the Old World. And most of the DNA connections and common ancestors probably also occurred in the Old World. But even today, you can find evidence of name changes and name misspellings that cross over from one of these surnames to another. Sometimes even official documents and signatures show the various spelling anomalies for the same person. My family too has several such references and stories.
