<title>[BARKER] John Wesley &#x26; Ida Barker in Jonesboro, Craighead County, Arkansas</title>
<link>http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/BARKER/2009-01/1231077941</link>
<description>Hello all,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0; These are my husband&#x27;s maternal Great Grandparents, John Wesley &#x26; Ida Barker.&#xA0; We know very little about them and looking for more information.&#xA0; From what I know from my mother-in-law, I was able to find them on the 1900 through 1930 census records. She told me of the 3 children in John &#x26; Ida&#x27;s family that included her mom but in 1910 &#x26; 1920 I did find another brother in the family she has never heard of.&#xA0; The 3 children she knew of are Clarence, Irene and Annabelle, the other brother is Evan. I only saw Evan those two times. I&#x27;m thinking Evan died young is why my M-I-L never heard of him. I just recently recieved from the Jonesboro Public Library, Ida&#x27;s obituary (they have an index of newspaper obits.), it didn&#x27;t mention son Evan either. I&#x27;m waiting on John&#x27;s obituary now. Anna B., (Annabelle) was married at least 3 or 4 times. When my M-I-L, Betty was born in 1927 Annabelle was married to Linville &#x27;Bud&#x27; &#xA0;Allen. In 1933 when Ida&#xA0; died&#x3C;BR&#x3E; Annabelle was married to Leland Ferguson. My m-i-l doesn&#x27;t talk about past but once, the other two husbands of her mom were Culver Vanderhoff and Clyde Walker. Betty was an only child.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0; &#xA0;Is anything here familiar to anyone?&#xA0; Thanks.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0; Debbie&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;      &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;

<description>I imagine any personal information would be in their Revolutionary  &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Pension Files at the National Archives.  There is another link listed  &#x3C;BR&#x3E;http://www.gutenberg.org/dirs/etext05/8pris10.txt giving details of  &#x3C;BR&#x3E;the ordeal these men went through.  My interest is in Stephen Dunwell  &#x3C;BR&#x3E;who&#x27;s daughter married a John Barker - we have no leads on this at  &#x3C;BR&#x3E;this point.  Stephen was only a teenager at the time of his arrest  &#x3C;BR&#x3E;and imprisonment on the same ship.  We are hoping that someone knows  &#x3C;BR&#x3E;these Barkers and which of these men had a son who married a Dunwell.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Leslie Thomas&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x27;If man cares not for his roots, then how can he care for his  &#x3C;BR&#x3E;branches?&#x27; --Doyle M Davis&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;On Dec 22, 2008, at 2:04 PM, LouAnnHaynes@aol.com wrote:&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;In reading your post about Revolutionary War Prisoners&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;I am a descendant of  a John Barker...........................&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Is there anymore information available..................... as  &#x3C;BR&#x3E;located in&#x3C;BR&#x3E;other military records,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;white,  rank, blue eyes, brown hair 6&#x27;2&#x22; etc?&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;**************One site keeps you connected to all your email: AOL Mail,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Gmail, and Yahoo Mail. <description>The String game sounds like a &#x22;Whirligig&#x22;, a spinning button on a  &#x3C;BR&#x3E;string. &#x22;Crows feet&#x22; and designs made with string sounds like a &#x22;Cat&#x27;s  &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Cradle&#x22; game. Both can be found if you &#x22;Google&#x22; Button on a string or  &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Cat&#x27;s Cradle.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Good Luck,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Gerald (Barker) Farren&#x3C;BR&#x3E;On Dec 20, 2008, at 5:22 PM, Sshardebeck@aol.com wrote:&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Grandma Barker who lived on a farm 5 miles west of Perry Oklahoma,  &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; had no&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; money but managed to entertain 7 children and 40+ grandchildren and  &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; 20+ great&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; grandchildren with inexpensive items--particularly string. <description>Pat,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#xA0;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;I have quite a lot of information on the Barker line that interests you.&#xA0; William Nicholas Barker is my husband&#x27;s ggggrandfather and I recently gathered information on proof of descent so I feel sure I have some that will be of interest to you as well.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#xA0;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;I will be delighted to share if you will get in touch with me.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#xA0;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Darla Schwartz&#x3C;BR&#x3E;hilltophereford@yahoo.com&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;--- On Mon, 11/17/08, Pat Sommerfield &#x3C;hargus1953@yahoo.com&#x3E; wrote:&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;From: Pat Sommerfield &#x3C;hargus1953@yahoo.com&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Subject: [BARKER] My Barker Line&#x3C;BR&#x3E;To: barker@rootsweb.com&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Date: Monday, November 17, 2008, 3:38 PM&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;  My Barker line is from &#x3C;BR&#x3E;   &#x3C;BR&#x3E;  William BARKER (born before 1770) m. unknown, son Britton BARKER (born bef&#x3C;BR&#x3E;1790, d. Maybe&#x3C;BR&#x3E;William&#x27;s wife was a Britton?  Seems an unusual name for a son, so maybe he&#x3C;BR&#x3E;was named after his mother?  Maybe William&#x27;s father was also Britton Barker?&#x3C;BR&#x3E; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;  Do these names ring a bell for anyone?&#x3C;BR&#x3E;  Pat&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;       &#x3C;BR&#x3E;For Barker information, visit the RootsWeb Barker Mailing Lists Members Home&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Page at http://www.rootsweb.com/~scwhite/barker/&#x3C;BR&#x3E;-------------------------------&#x3C;BR&#x3E;To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to&#x3C;BR&#x3E;BARKER-request@rootsweb.com with the word &#x27;unsubscribe&#x27; without the&#x3C;BR&#x3E;quotes in the subject and the body of the message&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;      &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;
