<description>Hello everybody,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;I don&#x27;t know why but all of a sudden, I&#x27;m getting the Beresford e-mail -&#x3C;BR&#x3E;great stuff.  &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;I am interested in the Cheshire Beresfords. They apparently emigrated to Paterson, New Jersey (or that is where the boat landed) when he was 11 months old. Somehow he wound up in Canada and at the age of 29 or 39 (he wrote both ages on his Canadian marriage license application) he married Margaret McKillop (newly arrived from Scotland).  They went on to have 11 children.  Do you see a pattern of 11 here? <description>Hi&#x3C;BR&#x3E;and thanks for your replies re Thomas.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;He only had the 1 child, Walter Edwin, and have do wonder if it was a family name.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;There are still some desendants with the name Edwin.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;There was a Thomas Edwin born in Bakewell, Derdyshire in 1848, but as yet, I have nothing to connect the 2 together.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Cheers&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Maureen&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;

<description>Good morning,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;I am looking for the birth of Thomas Beresford, born sometime between 1845-1848 in Staffordshire, England.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;In 1864 Thomas joined the 3rd Waikato Militia in Auckland, New Zealand. He was sent to Cambridge where he married in 1865 and had a son, Walter Edwin in 1866.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;In 1867 the family went to Fiji.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;In March 1868, his wife and child returned to New Zealand.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;On about 12th June 1868, Thomas was washed overboard from the cutter &#x27;Lapwing&#x27; off the east coast of the South Island, New Zealand.
