Re: [BURIAN] Burjan

Dear Jimmy -
I don't know if I can help you with your family tree. I can tell you what I know, which isn't much.
First off, I am a Burjan through marriage. My hushands name was Denes Burjan. He came to the US in 56 - as your father. He was from a small village (Csogle) which is located in Vespremegy, Hungary. We did travel to Toronto in 1960 (I seem to remember it as Toronto) to visit some relatives on my husbands side. I can not remember who they were, nonetheless I do recall it was an older women whom we stayed with. My husband also served in the Hungarian army.
I have done a great deal of research on my side of the family since my grandparents are from Hungary. My parents however were born in the US, although they were both Hungarian and since my husband was Hungarian I do speak the language as well as my children.
My husband passed in 1993. I do know a little of his history. He still has two sisters living in Hungary. One in Csogle, the other in Erd, just outside of Budapest. My husband and myself traveled back to Hungary for the first time in '83 and since than both of us traveled back at least several times a year until his death. I have traveled back 4 times since his passing. I have been to the city of Gyor several times, but only on business.
My mother-in-law was taken in by a family named Barna and adopted.
While in Hungary I met several people by the name of Burjan, but they were not related to my husband. It seemed to be a common name.
The only clue in this would be if your grandparents or another relative lived in Toronto in 1960. At least I think it was Toronto.
As I said I can not tell you much, but I hope whatever I remembered has been some sort of help, one way or another.

Have a Blessed Day
Joyce Burjan
It is only the impossible that is possible with God.

-- "Jim B." <jburjan@shaw.ca> wrote:
Hello;

My name is Jimmy Burjan.

I was born in 1958 at Red Lake Ontario.

My parents came to Canada in 1956 during the revolution. There names were Teri Nemeth my mom (Madden Name) Imre Burjan my dad.

I have never met any of my relatives and would love to talk to them and hopefully meet them some day.

My parents have passed away four years ago and I would love to meet the family I never had the opportunity to do so.

Day does not go by that I do not think of the family I have half way around the world, that I would love to get to know.

I have so many questions I need answers for.I hope there is some help out there.

I have a couple of names that still live in Hungry I hope.

Nemeth Nandrne
Mosonmagyarovar
Engels-ut 15. 1/1 She was my grandmother. Bulgar was related to the tower of Bable from the bilical
stories wherein peoples were scattered over the planet . Some more recent
Bulgarian research suggest that this tribe was actually Burjan or Bulgar
depending on dialect. All of the other name references are a much later
date, including the Magyar and Turkish dates. More can be found on this
topic by searching Burjan/Bulgar. Also the Buryan tower Kyrgyzstan suggest
a simular connection, wherein, I found a translation of Bur-yan as
"sky-god". To me it becomes very compelling that Buryan, with a "Y" could
be anything else due to the fact that the tower is a prayer tower which
readily fits this translation. Also, according to biblical translations,
the peoples from the tower of Bable (which I beilieve is also a prayer
tower although I haven't connected these two because there is,
historically, a large date/time spread) settled as Sumerians in
Bulgaria,Turkey, Russian Steepes (?) China, etc. I have found the Burjan
name in these locations. This also fits the Ottoman Empire periods quite
well. There was a Shah Burjan in India. The Sumerians used cuneiform
writing which dates to about 3000 years. Burian name shows up on a cuniform
tablet in a Syrian Museum estimated at ~1500 BC. It was written in Akkadian
cuneiform which would be the same Akkadian referenced in the web pages I've
reviewed somewhat. This artifact can be found doing a search as;
"Bridewealth Document" which may be one of the early marriages type of
record. This avenue for the roots seems to have come about around 1990, and
certainly hasn't been universally accepted about the origins of Bulgarian
country which was actually, perhaps, Sumerian.

-------------------------------
To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to BURIAN-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

____________________________________________________________________________________
Don't let your dream ride pass you by. He will get in contact with you
directly
as he is no list member.
Please ask him about the coats of arms as I do not know details. This
coat
of arms was researched by him or his relatives.
He was a hugh family tree, linking the Burgyans from Pecsely to the
Burgyans
de Szilsarkany and I am sure he will send it to you.

I did some additional research around Szilsarkany as I could trace my
own
roots to nearby Csorna. But there is still a missing link to Arto's
tree,
because the church books of Csorna were burnt in around 1780.
During my research I even found additional information on Burgyans in
this
area to have a theory about the two next generations ahead of Arto's
tree
and even to the Burians of Schellendorf.
Dear Gerhard,

I started researching from your links and the search led to other links and still wider to other links. Eventually I found a page that gave me information about my paternal grandmother that I did not know existed. Thank you so much for a beginning!!! I still have a lot of research to do, but this is such a grand start! I will let you know if our Burian paths cross.

Sincerely,
Sue

----- Original Message ----
From: Gerhard Burian <office@burian.com>
To: burian@rootsweb.com
Sent: Tuesday, August 28, 2007 2:28:57 PM
Subject: Re: [BURIAN] Hungarian research - Pécsely

Dear Sue,

Thank you for the information on the book.
Dear Eszter,

Meanwhile I got a reply from Arto. He will get in contact with you directly
as he is no list member.
Please ask him about the coats of arms as I do not know details. This coat
of arms was researched by him or his relatives.
He was a hugh family tree, linking the Burgyans from Pecsely to the Burgyans
de Szilsarkany and I am sure he will send it to you.

I did some additional research around Szilsarkany as I could trace my own
roots to nearby Csorna. But there is still a missing link to Arto's tree,
because the church books of Csorna were burnt in around 1780.
During my research I even found additional information on Burgyans in this
area to have a theory about the two next generations ahead of Arto's tree
and even to the Burians of Schellendorf. As soon I have time I will send you
a summary.

Best regards

Gerhard Burian

-----Ursprüngliche Nachricht-----
Von: burian-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:burian-bounces@rootsweb.com] Im
Auftrag von Eszter Burgyán
Gesendet: Montag, 27. This is similar to your web listing of: in Hungarian: BURJAN ~ BURGYAN describes someone who doesn¢t take care of his land.

I wish I could be of more help, but this is all the information I have at this time.

Please continue to keep me on your email list.

Sincerely,
Sue

____________________________________________________________________________________
Shape Yahoo! in your own image.
