He grew up on Bullitt Ave. in Roanoke, Virginia. He was born June-11-1930 to Franklin Patterson Carper and Mary Edna Thompson Carper. I have no idea if he was in the Navy but I can tell you that several others were in the navy in our family and his age fits about the time where he could have been in the service in the &#x27;50&#x27;s. He may still be alive. He had several sisters and he was the baby. Hope this helps. Shirley de Berry (born Aug 1885 died 1967). Had at least two children, Shirley V R Carper and Aubrey Wyndham Carper. Family lived in London from 1911 - 1920 and then came back to states. Based on ships passenger records they lived in DC and Louisville, Ky during the 1920s or so. Have had no luck in finding them later. The Ledger also says &#x22;Ella was a &#x27;great-great-granddaughter of John Jackson who came from New Jersey.  This statement in Hon. William C. Carper&#x27;s handwrite helps to establish the fact that S. A. (Stephen Alonzo)Jackson is right in the connection.&#x27;&#x22;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Does anyone have any information about this Ella Mary; who were her parents, where was she born, where and when did she die?? Carper, age 75 of Benton died Friday at his home. He was born January 4, 1932, in Cove, Arkansas, to the late Arthur and Lucy Carper. Mr. Carper was an auto mechanic and retired from Whitfield Tire and Service in Benton, receiving the NAPA ASE Technician of the Year Award for Arkansas in 1987. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in the Korean War, a member of the Disabled Veterans Association, and a member of the Benton Four Square Church.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Survivors; wife, Nona Carper, Benton; sons and daughters-in-law, Roy and Brenda Carper, Gresham, Ore., Bob and Sue Carper, Benton, Riley Carper, Hot Springs, Ricky and Sheila Carper, Benton; daughters and sons-in-law, Rose Curry, Benton, Diane and Mark Boone, Bryant, Becky and Gary Cummings, Benton; 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and firends.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Ashby Funeral HOme Chapel with burila at Grahm Cemetery. MInisters will be Bro. Al Harvey, Bro. David Brewer and Bro. Don Whitfield.
