<title>[CHOCTAW-SOUTHEAST] Message to all</title>
<link>http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/CHOCTAW-SOUTHEAST/2008-12/1230751144</link>
<description>Hi Folks:&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Hope everyone&#x27;s Christmas/Holidays were blessed and I&#x27;m looking forward to discoveries of new family info for each listmember in the coming year!  Typically we get a bunch of new listmembers after Christmas (we got 4 just today) as people are getting new computers, making New Year&#x27;s resolutions to do more genealogy work, etc.  In the years that I&#x27;ve been doing this job I have been so impressed by our list-members kind willingness to help newbies find info, doing lookups and sharing.  Let&#x27;s keep up the good work and welcome those newcomers.  Hope you got what you wished for at Christmas (I got a brand-new fancy barn!!...we&#x27;ve been needing one for 20 years).  If anyone has found interesting new genealogy sites, read new books, or has a brick wall they&#x27;d like to post, please do so.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;I will mention a book I just finished reading - &#x22;The Dawes Commission and the Allotment of the Five Civilized Tribes, 1891-1914&#x22; by Kent Carter who is the Regional Admin. of the National Archives, Southwest Region in Fort Worth, Texas where the Dawes Comm. records are stored.  It&#x27;s not what I would call a page-turner as far as entertainment, but DEFINITELY instructive in the comings and goings of the Commission before, during and after the allotments.   I was amazed to find out what a mess the whole process was.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;dusty&#x3C;BR&#x3E;List Admin.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;

<description>Halito Dusty:&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0; I&#x27;m sorry this is happening. You provide a lot of your time providing a valuable service, doing look ups and searching information for people. You really don&#x27;t need to be wasting your time dealing with this. It is amazing how much garbage is on the web, invading our computers and wasting our time. I get upset every day with having to delete all of the garbage that comes in. Perhaps one day someone will figure out a way that we can get rid of all of this junk.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0;&#xA0; Richard Wilson&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;________________________________&#x3C;BR&#x3E;From: &#x22;dustyc@microgear.net&#x22; &#x3C;dustyc@microgear.net&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;To: CHOCTAW-SOUTHEAST@rootsweb.com&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Sent: Tuesday, November 11, 2008 11:56:13 AM&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Subject: [CHOCTAW-SOUTHEAST] To All&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;I&#x27;ve hesitated to put this on the list, but it appears that someone is sending &#x22;undesirable&#x22; e-mails using my address.&#xA0; I don&#x27;t know how it&#x27;s done or what I can do to stop it, but if anyone receives an e-mail that is obviously not genealogy-related with my return address, please disregard them or write to me for confirmation.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Good grief......Ain&#x27;t technology wonderful????&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;dusty&#x3C;BR&#x3E;List Admin.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;-------------------------------&#x3C;BR&#x3E;To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to CHOCTAW-SOUTHEAST-request@rootsweb.com with the word &#x27;unsubscribe&#x27; without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;      &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;

<description>Dusty: &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;How that works is that they&#xC2;&#xA0;use a form of spyware / virus that gets into an Outlook account or similar address book and steals the e-mail addresses. So they might have gotten it from your account or anybody who has ever received and kept your e-mail address in their address book. They can then also send the message directly from that person&#x27;s computer or from any computer they choose that doesn&#x27;t have a good anti-virus and firewall. So, it may not be from your computer at all, but from any of the hundreds of computers that have a copy of your e-mail address in their address book. Not much you can do to protect yourself from that type of hazard. Everyone just needs to be savvy enough to know that those type of scum are out there doing this type of malicious attacks on ALL of our computers. That&#x27;s why we need anti-virus software and firewalls. And they are always looking for weak spots, thats why the anti-virus software has to update frequently - to protect against the latest viruses that have been developed by the scum. Don&#x27;t let it get you down, but be aware of how they are doing this. &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;David Bush &#x3C;BR&#x3E;14618 Wind Hollow Cir. &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Houston, Texas 77040 &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Mbl: 281-650-3281 &#x3C;BR&#x3E;HM/Fax: 713-937-0250 or 713-937-6494 &#x3C;BR&#x3E;dbush40220@comcast.net &#x3C;BR&#x3E;http://www.myspace.com/thetexasav8r &#x3C;BR&#x3E;http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1390403613&#x26;ref=name &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;----- Original Message ----- &#x3C;BR&#x3E;From: dustyc@microgear.net &#x3C;BR&#x3E;To: CHOCTAW-SOUTHEAST@rootsweb.com &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Sent: Tuesday, November 11, 2008 10:56:13 AM GMT -06:00 US/Canada Central &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Subject: [CHOCTAW-SOUTHEAST] To All &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;I&#x27;ve hesitated to put this on the list, but it appears that someone is sending &#x22;undesirable&#x22; e-mails using my address. &#xC2;&#xA0;I don&#x27;t know how it&#x27;s done or what I can do to stop it, but if anyone receives an e-mail that is obviously not genealogy-related with my return address, please disregard them or write to me for confirmation. &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Good grief......Ain&#x27;t technology wonderful???? &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;dusty &#x3C;BR&#x3E;List Admin. &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#xC2;&#xA0; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;------------------------------- &#x3C;BR&#x3E;To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to CHOCTAW-SOUTHEAST-request@rootsweb.com with the word &#x27;unsubscribe&#x27; without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;

<description>found a mcr file mentioned him...mcr 7053...&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Salina C. Dunn testified for her neices, Mary E. SMith, Louanna S. Terrel and Olive B. Critz. Salina Dunn says she was the daughter of Allen Yates and his wife Milly or Emily Nail . Her sister was Belinda Toole. in 1903 had been in the Choctaw nation for 20-25 years. Belinda was 10 years older than Salina, and would have been 80 in 1903.Alfred  Yates was her one brother, he would be 90 if he were alive, her other sister&#x27;s were Mary, Emily and Elizabeth. Mary and Elizabeth died, and only Emily, Belinda and Salina lived to adulthood. the land they owned was in Choctaw County, nearby a creek called Pushcush. Salina was born in 1833. Emily died before they came to IT. The land was distrubuted among the children. Her mother had blue eyes and brown hair, but her Uncles were dark. She was born near Quitman in Clark county. Her mother was Fluent in choctaw. Allen was a small man, fair complexion and blue eyes. He was from Virginia and a white man, he did not speak choctaw.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Mary Cooper testified, she was age 60. she knew Allen Yates and his wife. She described them the same manner that Salina did, she knew Milly when she died, in Alabama, and she was about 64 years old then. When Belinda and Salina moved to IT their parents were dead. Mary is Choctaw, but didn&#x27;t prove her rights with the tribe because of lack of witnesses, she grew up with the girls in Alabama, and moved to IT 8 years after they did. She was not a relative, just a neighbor. John O&#x27;toole testified, he is the son of Belinda Yates O&#x27;Toole. He testified he moved to IT 1873 or 1874, he stayed in AL three years after his family. His m other was born in 1822. Salina Dunn is his Aunt, Mary E. Smith is his sister, and the other girls are his neices. &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Mary Nail was the great grandmother, she had been married to Henry Nail, a white man. Mary Nail ( I think he means his mother, Emily Nail), had five sisters who married Folsom&#x27;s, and three brother&#x27;s  who moved to IT. Emily married Allen Yates so they stayed in Alabama. Millie Yates was an interpreter, and he supposes that&#x27;s why they got the land..&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Mary Smith lived in Arkansas, which is why she&#x27;s a MCR card. But Belinda O&#x27;toole was always recognized by the Choctaw.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Allen Yates was white, his wife Millie Nail was one quarter, her mother was one fourth, and her name was Bates?&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;this was denied as MCR, because they weren&#x27;t fullbloods, and the Choctaw denied them because they didn&#x27;t live in IT. They also were denied because the land they got was from the supplement&#x27;s and not from article 14. &#x3C;BR&#x3E;My genealogy homepage&#x3C;BR&#x3E;http://jenniferhsrn2.homestead.com&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;My Space&#x3C;BR&#x3E;http://www.myspace.com/nahotima&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;

<description>Hi Aimee,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;This test was ordered after our samples had been &#x3C;BR&#x3E;stored for a while. Yes, you can order Panels 1 &#x26; 2&#x3C;BR&#x3E;under FTDNA&#x27;s &#x22;Advanced Orders&#x22; hyperlink. The Houston&#x3C;BR&#x3E;lab (under Thomas Krahn) does the autosomal testing. So, &#x3C;BR&#x3E;a sample first needs to be forwarded from the &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Arizona lab to Houston for a small fee. (DNA Tribes&#x3C;BR&#x3E;can also do this lab work on samples sent to them&#x3C;BR&#x3E;originally.) DNA Tribes performs the Analysis Only&#x3C;BR&#x3E;if one&#x27;s results derive from marker values from FTDNA.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;John&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;--------------------&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Message: 2&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Date: Tue, 21 Oct 2008 13:29:59 -0500&#x3C;BR&#x3E;From: &#x22;Aimee&#x22; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Subject: Re: [CHOCTAW-SOUTHEAST] Choctaws of the Spanish Natchez&#x3C;BR&#x3E;District?(Betteye) (marypat)&#x3C;BR&#x3E;To: &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Message-ID: &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed; charset=&#x22;iso-8859-1&#x22;;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;reply-type=original&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;John&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Was this test ordered at the FamilyTreedna at the same time you sent the &#x3C;BR&#x3E;sample in or was it another test altogether? (I&#x27;m presently upgrading my&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; other two relatives to 21 markers.)&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; One may also test the atDNA markers through DNAT, itself.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; As further world population datasets are added, one may order&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; inexpensive updated reports (PDFs) that reflect the new data.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Because all four of us had strong indication of mestizo admixture,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; I posed the question to the president regarding actual percentages.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Although European intermixture can be graphed, it cannot be&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; estimated in terms of actual percentage (being so inter-similar),&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; but Amerindian admixture with European can be, due to its distinctive&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; differences.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; My father&#x27;s full brother and their double first cousin were 1/4 NA,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; while my father -- at the same generational level -- showed only 1/8 NA.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Oddly, I must have inherited his full 1/8 NA indicators (rather than &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; 1/16),&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; whereas, somehow my father&#x27;s atDNA was, itself, watered down by an eighth.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; I asked for, and received, a mailed letter on letterhead from DNAT&#x27;s &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; president&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; in which he described those NA percentages of the four of us,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; which he had previously stated to me in an informal e-mail.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; I hope that helps explain it and make it easier.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; -------------------------------&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; CHOCTAW-SOUTHEAST-request@rootsweb.com with the word &#x27;unsubscribe&#x27; without &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; the quotes in the subject and the body of the message&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;
