Hi Annette, That is really interesting. The only Seymour's I do have are 3, Sophia and her father Benjamin in London and a very recent addition in 1975 Philip James from York, England. I am not too far from Sunderland and my eldest daughter lives in Sacriston just outside Durham city. Takes us about 55mins to get up there. We live in the Tees valley, Middlesbrough, Cleveland, once part of North Yorkshire. My Great Grand Father, Henry Seymour WYATT came from West Ham in London between 1901 and 1904 when my Gran, his daughter married my Grand dad, David Dixon SADLER in Guisbro, Yorkshire. They changed their name from WYATT to Gran's maiden name WINCHESTER and the children married in that name. Henry isn't on the 1901 census however, Great Gran and their children are living with Great Gran's sister and husband in London. We think he may have been in some trouble and this is why he went to Guisborough and changed the family name????? I can't get any further back from Benjamin though?? Please do keep in touch. The only Seymour's I do have are 3, Sophia and her father Benjamin in London and a very recent addition in 1975 Philip James from York, England. I am not too far from Sunderland and my eldest daughter lives in Sacriston just outside Durham city. Takes us about 55mins to get up there. We live in the Tees valley, Middlesbrough, Cleveland, once part of North Yorkshire. My Great Grand Father, Henry Seymour WYATT came from West Ham in London between 1901 and 1904 when my Gran, his daughter married my Grand dad, David Dixon SADLER in Guisbro, Yorkshire. They changed their name from WYATT to Gran's maiden name WINCHESTER and the children married in that name. Henry isn't on the 1901 census however, Great Gran and their children are living with Great Gran's sister and husband in London. We think he may have been in some trouble and this is why he went to Guisborough and changed the family name????? I can't get any further back from Benjamin though?? Please do keep in touch. I have Bruces in my tree. The first one I found was Catherine Bruce, baptised in 1649. Her parents were Robert Bruce of Auchenbowie and Jonet Cowan. Robert's parents were another Robert Bruce of Auchenbowie and Elizabeth Halliburtonne. We know that the Bruces of Auchenbowie were linked to the Bruces of Airth and they in turn linked with the Bruces of Clackmannon. These particular Bruces claim a direct descent from a a co-lateral line from the King Robert de Bruce so possibly I do have a distant connection too. In the Dictionary of National Biography there is an enormous amount of information about the line of Robert Bruces which eventually led to the King. (Incidentally it is not a direct line. There is a sideways step in the 12th century). King Robert had no sons from his first marriage. His son David, from his second marriage succeeded him as David II. (There was another son John who died in infancy.) David had no children so he was succeeded by another Robert, son of the daughter Marjorie from King Robert's first marriage. But this was the beginning of the House of Stuart. There were no more legitimate Bruces in a direct line. I looked at some of the links on your email and I am very puzzled about the second one to Ancestry. This has reference to some information to other English lines of my family and my husbands and as far as I can see has no connection with Scotland. I can't see any of these names occuring on your website. Am I perhaps missing something? Hope to hear from you soon.
