Is this how you pronounce the alternative spelling of CLOW...? When I
look at it, I pronounce it like Dow. Or is it like CLOUGH and
pronounced both ways perhaps.

Just curious! My branch has a close DNA match in PEI (Prince Edward
Island) with CLOW. My maiden name is CLUFF pronounced like enough of
course. I don't believe CLUFF is pronounced any other way, is it...?

Thanks!

Later...Nancy

Nancy Cluff Siders, Mailing List Admin for: C*LUFF, C*OUNTRYMAN,
L*ETSON,
M*CKAY-ELKENNY, O*LDEN, S*ACKETT, S*CAMMAHORN, S*IDERS, T*SFA

Surname Message Board Admin for: C*aplinger, C*luff, C*ountryman,
L*etson, M*cKay, O*lden, S*ackett, S*cammahorn, S*iders

To look backward for a while is to refresh the eye, to restore it, and
to
render it the more fit for its prime function of looking forward.
~Margaret Fairless Barber

On Jan 6, 2009, at 5:52 PM, jellybeans@comcast.net wrote:

> My family pronounced it Clough like "go' or 'low"... there is a guy
> who works with my husband named Lough, and he also pronounces his
> name that way (Low).
>
> --
> Cheri
>
> "If we all did the things we are capable of, we would astound
> ourselves." - Thomas Edison
>
>
>
> -------------- Original message --------------
> From: "Gilmore Sem" <ggsem@comcast.net>
>
>> Here is Minnesota, every family member I know pronounces it like
>> rough and
>> tough.
>>
>>
>> -----Original Message-----
>> From: clough-genealogy-bounces@rootsweb.com
>> [mailto:clough-genealogy-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of
>> toyboat@207me.com
>> Sent: Tuesday, January 06, 2009 4:12 PM
>> To: clough-genealogy@rootsweb.com
>> Subject: Re: [CLOUGH-GENEALOGY] Nigel Clough...
>>
>>
>> There are those people (not my family!!) who think it rhymes with
>> plow, sow,
>> cow!!
>>
>>
>> ------- Original Message -------
>>> From : John R.Clough[mailto:seapop-1@comcast.net]
>> Sent : 1/6/2009 4:29:48 PM
>> To : clough-genealogy@rootsweb.com
>> Cc :
>> Subject : RE: Re: [CLOUGH-GENEALOGY] Nigel Clough...
>>
>> How else would they pronounce it???
