We have been able to dramatically improve the
searchable indices for more than 50 of these including the 10 directories we've just
added, most of the 19th Century Pittsburgh directories, the 1930 directory, the Homestead
directories, and many of
the books on our "SmallBooks" page.
[NHGRAFTO] Wasn't someone looking for Enfield records?

Someone recently was looking for Enfield records, as I recall. Or
for anyone else looking for them …

NEHGS (New England Historic Genealogical Society) has added
transcriptions of the following work to its website:

Vital Records of Enfield, New Hampshire, 1761-1940
Compiled by George McKenzie Roberts in 1957, this collection is
especially valuable because many of the town records prior to
1851 were destroyed by a number of fires. This transcription was
compiled from surviving records and supplemented with information
from probate and land records, tax lists, censuses, newspaper
items, correspondence, genealogies, and other resources. Roberts'
original transcription also included cemetery records, which can
be found in our cemetery transcriptions database. In total, only
four copies of this typewritten, unpublished manuscript were
produced — in addition to the copy at NEHGS, one is kept in the
Enfield Public Library and two were given to the New Hampshire
State Library.

http://www.newenglandancestors.org/database_search/enf.asp

You may need to be a member to access this work. If so, and
you're not, send me a "want list" and I'll look for you. If you
do, kindly quote this message or at least the URL above so I can
quickly find the work again.

Christopher Brooks
Bethlehem, NH

If you are researching the Lowell's in Canaan, don't forget to look into the
records in Orange, NH as well. I have several Lowell's that married into
my Hadley family. They were generally from Orange. Feel free to see my
website at www.hadleygenealogy.net for additional information. If you find
an errors or data that needs correcting, I would appreciate hearing from
you. Jim Hadley

James R.
I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in White River Junction, VT. It is
less than 10 minutes to Enfield. It was one of the nicest places I've
stayed in. It was clean, spacious, and had an amazing breakfast
complimentary with your room.

At 08:41 AM 7/25/2008 -0400, you wrote:
>
>I am descended from William Aldrich who was reportedly born 27 Sep 1726
>in Gloucester, Providence, Rhode Island and probably died in Grafton.
>His G Grandfather was from Dorchester, Mass.
