Friends:

I am still looking for descendants of the VALOIS families who arrived in
Newark in the 1840's from Baden. I have tracked many, but I am sure there are
others.
Re: [NJESSEX] Another Cemetery

Guess in BIG cities, can have those situations going on. Especially very old
cemeteries, not necessarily cared for as well as more active ones.

Best I have seen where my father and mother rests, rabbits, ducks, Canada
geese, Swans, and who knows what else when it is dark, the beasties of the
night. Possums, raccoons, etc. Very large lake in center area.

A very busy place, when my Dad passed in '76, and Mom in '95. My husband in
'97. Although, he does not rest there. His wish to be put on the wind.

Still very busy last visit, 2002. More than likely still is to this day.

As in all places, one must be on your guard. Do not leave valuables unlocked
in your car, nor in plain sight. Not every vehicle are grounds personel,
that passes by.

But then, has been many years since visited there. They are in the "newer"
section, so the ones with above ground monuments, are clustered at the
entrance to the cemetery.

But any one new all have the flat markers. Ease of keeping the grounds neat
and mowed.

Maintenance, am told, was paid in full at time of purchase of my parents
plot. Suppose for many years to come, they have sufficient space to expand, . .
. . . . . . . . . . . .

Do give a map showing location, of loved ones, ancestors as such, Inglewood
Park Cemetery, Inglewood, CA. 90302. There is no charge for this service, for
now.

In a message dated 1/7/2009 3:45:24 P.M. Pacific Standard Time,
MacShea95@aol.com writes:

Beverly,

Do not worry about Holy Sepuchre. When you go to the office, which is
immediately inside the gate, they will find where your grave is located,
and then
they will find a groundsman to accompany you to the grave. (You follow
their
truck in your car. A small tip would be appropriate). He will wait with
you.
The area is not great, but not awful. This cemetery is safer than the one
immediately next door, Fairmount, where a pack of wild dogs was running
about
the day we were there!

Dee
**************New year...new news.
Carol best suggestion I can offer you in Hunterdon County are church record
and the same would be true in Morris. Don't forget though they may not have
attended church in their own counties.
The Marx room of the Easton Library has most of it's records pretty well
indexed. There are many families in their records, not from Pa. or
Northampton County. So personally I think It's start there. It's a
remarkable place.
Linda
----- Original Message -----
From: "Carol Parks" <mathmamacdp@comcast.net>
To: <nayrc25@earthlink.net>; <njessex@rootsweb.com>
Sent: Wednesday, January 07, 2009 11:04 PM
Subject: [NJESSEX] Holy Sepulchre

>I know it's late to jump in on this Holy Sepulchre Cemetery discussion but
>I, too, have had some experience here. I
>found this to be excessive so opted for the list of names only - for a fee
>of course.
>
> I decided to use the LDS library and checked the alpha listings first.
> Unfortunately, all were not listed so I ended up going through the entire
> series by date. This was very time consuming but I did make some other
> discoveries also -- other ancestors or more remote branches of my tree.
> I also found some children that I didn't know even existed. They were
> born and died between censuses so were never listed there and therefore I
> had never even looked for them.
>
> All this was over 10 years ago but I look back on it now as a learning
> experience. Sometimes these dead ends or barriers cause us to look in new
> directions.
>
> Now I am looking for another direction to find birth or baptism records
> from the early 1800's in Hunterdon and/or Morris County.
I know it's late to jump in on this Holy Sepulchre Cemetery discussion but I, too, have had some experience here. I first called and was told that the Plot and lot number that I provided was correct. If I should go to the cemetery they would show me where it was. We (my husband and I) made the trip. The woman in the office checked the book but would not show it to me. She told me there were 19 people in the plot including my grandparents who were the ones I was researching. That was it.
[NJESSEX] records in nj

Ok guys-here is the word from my friend who maybe knows more about the
archives than the people who work there! the births deaths and marriages are up to
1940 in some instances. see the page on nj archives
use _www.google.com_ (http://www.google.com) and read up(i said the last
part).
However, records of divorces are at the Superior Court Records Center
in Trenton. My understanding of NJ law is that adoptions are
sealed by the court and available only under certain circumstances
and with legal help. I think the Archives web site has the details of what
they hold for what years. and its cheaper to make copies on your own if in
nj than to ask the archives to do it or certified genealogist. and the area is
fine to go to
good luck. linda
**************New year...new news.
Three generations of my Logan family is buried in Holy Sepulchre. I found the LDS microfilm # for the records by looking on the Old Newark website and then sent off to the LDS library for copies. I got burial records for each of the Logans buried there- it was $2 per record. At the time, there was a man who would take photos of a grave for a fee- his offer is no longer mentioned on the site. An alternative would be to list the burial on findagrave and then request photos.
I got burial records for my great grandparents, so I knew where they were supposed to be- but the photographer reported to me that there was no marker for them. One of my goals is to get one made for them.
Maryann
----- Original Message -----
From: lmuessig<mailto:lmuessig@earthlink.net>
To: nayrc25@earthlink.net<mailto:nayrc25@earthlink.net> ; njessex@rootsweb.com<mailto:njessex@rootsweb.com>
Sent: Wednesday, January 07, 2009 6:05 PM
Subject: Re: [NJESSEX] Holy Sepulchre

I wonder if it has anything to do with who is working on any given day.
