<title>[OHCOLUMB] Upper Ohio River and Town Maps</title>
<link>http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/OHCOLUMB/2008-10/1223205282</link>
<description>My great-great grandfather was &#x22;Judge&#x22; Martin Heckard (1809-1877), a &#x3C;BR&#x3E;lawyer in Pomeroy and many of his clients were on both sides of the &#x3C;BR&#x3E;river from Cincinnati to Wheeling. He also was one of the early &#x3C;BR&#x3E;teachers at Meigs Academy in Chester. He grew up in Columbiana and &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Jefferson Counties and came down to Meigs County about 1832.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;A few years ago I compiled property owner river maps for the year &#x3C;BR&#x3E;1877 following his travels up and down the Ohio River and thought now &#x3C;BR&#x3E;might be a good time to make them available for everyone at:&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~moyer/Ohio-River-Maps/index.htm&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Please feel free to download them - they are large files - but &#x3C;BR&#x3E;excellent quality. They are in PDF format so you can print any &#x3C;BR&#x3E;section or part that you need - just save them to your computer.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;There&#x27;s also a link on the page to another source where I found some &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Revolutionary War Pension Applications (original documents) for SE &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Ohio and West Virginia and I added an example. I stumbled on these &#x3C;BR&#x3E;because they were prepared by Mr. Heckard when he was a lawyer. Too &#x3C;BR&#x3E;bad the applicant were not our family . . . . the last name was Frasher.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;I hope you find the maps as useful as I have. Please feel free to &#x3C;BR&#x3E;pass this information along to any other mailing lists or &#x3C;BR&#x3E;researchers. My plans are to eventually finish the set which runs &#x3C;BR&#x3E;from Cincinnati to Pittsburgh as time permits.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Good luck with your research.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Bob Moyer &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;

<title>[OHCOLUMB] East Carmel Cemetery in Columbiana Co. OH</title>
<link>http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/OHCOLUMB/2008-10/1223056328</link>
<description>I just saw in today&#x27;s obits in the Salem News online that a lady from Columbiana will be buried in East Carmel Cemetery.  I just don&#x27;t remember seeing the name of this cemetery before (probably have).  Has it been included in the Columbiana Co. OGS cemetery books?  When I Google searched for East Carmel Cemetery the names of towns shown below near the cemetery came up.  I&#x27;d be interested in knowing the names of very old burials.  Barbara of Edgewater, MD (born &#x26; raised in Salem) &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;East Carmel, OH (&#x3C; 0.1 mile)&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Rogers, OH (1.4 miles NNW) &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Clarkson, OH (1.9 miles S) &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Mill Rock, OH (1.9 miles NE) &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Union Ridge, OH (1.9 miles E) &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Signal, OH (2.7 miles WNW) &#x3C;BR&#x3E;East Fairfield, OH (3.4 miles NNW) &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Achor, OH (3.6 miles E) &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Williamsport, OH (3.9 miles SSW) &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Negley, OH (3.9 miles ENE) &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;
