<title>[PA-BRADFORD-CO-HIST-SOCIETY] Bradford Co migration to Kentucky</title>
<link>http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/PA-BRADFORD-CO-HIST-SOCIETY/2009-01/1231114742</link>
<description>In Pioneer and Patriot Families of Bradford County, Pennsylvania it relates&#x3C;BR&#x3E;that &#x93;William Compton, a ship carpenter and native of Providence, Rhode&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Island, came from Otsego county, New York to Smithfield, 1812. He married&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Huldah Beals, sister of Abigail Beals, wife of Rev. John Smith, who with&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Harry Grover, Elias and Francis Needham and others with their families&#x3C;BR&#x3E;emigrated to Kentucky.&#x94; This is a misprint and Abigail Beals was actually&#x3C;BR&#x3E;the mother of Alice Andrews wife of Rev. John Smith. Rev. John Smith and&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Alice Andrews had settled in Wells Township.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;In 1812 Phineas Chapman Morgan of Columbia Township went to Kentucky with&#x3C;BR&#x3E;three others (names not given) to seek a better location as they had lost&#x3C;BR&#x3E;their land by failing to sustain their Connecticut claim, but after spending&#x3C;BR&#x3E;several months returned (Northern Tier Gazette, Troy, Pennsylvania, March&#x3C;BR&#x3E;26, 1868).&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Is anyone researching these several families who removed to Kentucky in 1812&#x3C;BR&#x3E;or know of all of the families who were involved in the move to Kentucky?&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Besides Phineas Chapman Morgan, Rev. John Smith also returned.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;J. Kelsey Jones&#x3C;BR&#x3E;montroseaussies@stny.rr.com&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;
