Greetings Packard Family... Regarding the marriage of Josiah Packard and Betsey Denny Bolton who were married in West Bridgewater, Plymouth County, Massachusetts on 17 Nov 1824...

Has Betsey's father ever been identified?

The NEHGS has told me that this couples' family bible is in the hands of a family member in the Bridgewater-Brockton area. I'm wondering if any additional information about Betsey's origins and early life have been found there or in other family memorabilia.

Thanks for the help...

Liz in Santa Barbara

Think of the Plymouth Colony
Forums as a set of message boards grouped together and sharing a
common theme. The theme encompasses New Plymouth Colony (1620-1685),
the three Massachusetts counties formed from the Colony in 1685
(Plymouth, Barnstable and Bristol), and the families, towns and
cities of those areas. Messages may concern genealogy, history or
both. Registration is free, but visitors must register before they
can post new messages or reply to existing ones. Anyone can read any
and all posts without having to register. Everyone interested in the
genealogy or history of the Old Colony, its child counties, towns and
cities, or the families that lived in those areas, is welcome to
visit and to participate.

Dale H.
Hi Karen,
In going thru a backlog of email, I realize that I missed this information
when you sent it to the Packard list. My question does not relate to the
above discussion, but I am glad to read it because my great grandfather was
from New England and the information may tie in later.
My Benjamin Franklin Prince md Cora Packard about 1900 either in the Kansas
City area where he lived, or Denver or Pueblo, Colorado areas where they are
found in the early 1900s. His first wife had died in May 1898, of some sort
of cancer and I suspect Cora might have been her nurse, or was helping out
in the household. My grandmother remembered her mother being sick for a
long time. As she was 12 years old, that could mean several months or a few
years. Frank or B. F. as he is often found in the census was a fireman for
the RR, and worked the routes around KC and the Rio Grande to Colorado.

I do not know if Packard was her maiden name or not. The curious thing is
that on the 1900 census, where it states if the wife had had any children
and whether they are living.
It states that she had. So I am wondering if she wasn't md before. My
grandmother had stayed in KC after her mother's death with relatives, I
suspect to finish high school and have moral support of family and friends.
Later she goes to nursing school in Pueblo
and lives with Frank and Cora until she marries in 1911. She seemed to
think that Cora and Frank had separated for awhile, possibly because Cora's
mother seemed to be alive and perhaps needed caring for. But they were
living together when he died in 1913.

Thank you for taking time to read this. If you know of or come across a
Cora Packard Prince, please let me know.

Susan E in northern Indiana
