<description>I&#x27;ve received answers to my questions off list, but for the archive...&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Yes, #93187 &#x26; T-160 are the same person (and T-160 did contain a typo).  I&#x27;ve&#x3C;BR&#x3E;done some re-arranging of the table, and he is now alone in Group U:&#x3C;BR&#x3E;http://dgmweb.net/genealogy/DNA/Thompson/ThompsonDNA-results-HgI1.shtml#U &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Also, #93187 descends from the Ervin THOMPSON who was son of David Maurice&#x3C;BR&#x3E;THOMPSON and lived in Des Moines, IA:&#x3C;BR&#x3E;http://dgmweb.net/genealogy/FGS/Th/ThompsonErvin-MaryEsterTempleton.shtml&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;He&#x27;s not the Ervin THOMPSON who was son of Lewis E. THOMPSON and lived in&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Kossuth Co., IA:&#x3C;BR&#x3E;http://dgmweb.net/genealogy/FGS/Th/ThompsonErvin-PearlM_.shtml &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Diana&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; -----Original Message-----&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; From: thompson-dna-bounces@rootsweb.com Behalf Of Diana Gale Matthiesen&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Sent: Friday, October 17, 2008 3:08 AM&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; To: THOMPSON-DNA-L@rootsweb.com&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Subject: [THOMPSON-DNA] Ervin THOMPSON (b. 1905, IA)&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; I&#x27;m working on the Haplogroup I1 results table, and I have &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; some problems.  One&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; of them is in Group W:&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; http://dgmweb.net/genealogy/DNA/Thompson/ThompsonDNA-results-HgI1.shtml#W&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Actually, there are several problems with this group, but one &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; is that I think&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; W-43 and W-44 are really the same person.  I extracted one &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; set of values from&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; the FTDNA server-generated web site as Kit #93187.  I &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; extracted the other set&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; from the manually-created table at thompsonfamilies.org as &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; #T-160.  Both show&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; their earliest ancestor as Ervin THOMPSON (b. 1905, IA) and &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; they match, except&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; for marker DYS472.  I&#x27;m inclined to think these two are the &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; same person and that&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; a typo was made entering the value for DYS472 for #T-160.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; If this individual is on the list, I would very much &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; appreciate hearing from&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; you.  I believe I have located your Ervin THOMPSON (as Irvin) &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; in the 1930 census&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; of Kossuth Co., IA, with wife Pearl, but I would like to have &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; confirmation that&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; this is the correct Ervin.  &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Diana&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E;  &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;

<title>Re: [THOMPSON-DNA] Haplogroup I1 THOMPSON / THOMSON / THOMPSEN/THOMSEN data summarized</title>

<description>Thank you for the information, Bo.  These are exactly the kinds of corrections I&#x3C;BR&#x3E;need to whip this table into shape and make it useful.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;I have merged #3 and #5 into one, who is now #4 (note that this merger has&#x3C;BR&#x3E;changed everyone&#x27;s number from there on down).  If this individual is a&#x3C;BR&#x3E;subscriber to the list, or if you can contact him, he needs to upload the rest&#x3C;BR&#x3E;of his markers to Ysearch.  At the moment, he only has 12 markers uploaded,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;which is why I didn&#x27;t recognize him as the same person.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;In general, if you were tested at FTDNA and you uploaded your results to&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Ysearch, creating an account when the first panel of markers returned, you need&#x3C;BR&#x3E;to RE-upload your markers again when they have all returned.  The server does&#x3C;BR&#x3E;*not* automatically upload subsequent panels when they return.  To upload the&#x3C;BR&#x3E;standard markers (1-67), go to the &#x22;Y-DNA Matches&#x22; tab on your member page and&#x3C;BR&#x3E;click the link there.  If you had any &#x22;advanced&#x22; markers tested (beyond the&#x3C;BR&#x3E;standard 67), you need to enter those into your Ysearch account manually by&#x3C;BR&#x3E;going to Ysearch and choosing &#x22;Edit an Existing User.&#x22;  If you access Ysearch by&#x3C;BR&#x3E;using the link on your FTDNA member page, it will automatically enter your ID&#x3C;BR&#x3E;for you, though you&#x27;ll still need to give your password to edit your account.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;I&#x27;ve also made the corrections to your lineages, stopping with John THOMPSON&#x3C;BR&#x3E;(1767-1847).  One of us should go to WorldConnect and add Postem&#x27;s to the files&#x3C;BR&#x3E;there that connect John to James5, James4, James3, John2, Thomas1 THOMPSON&#x3C;BR&#x3E;(1598- ) of Yorkshire, ENG -- in our spare time?  The files can be pulled up by&#x3C;BR&#x3E;searching on John THOMPSON with spouse PIKE.  &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Thanks again,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Diana&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; -----Original Message-----&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; From: thompson-dna-bounces@rootsweb.com On Behalf Of Robert L &#x22;Bo&#x22; Thompson&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Sent: Friday, October 10, 2008 6:10 PM&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; To: thompson-dna@rootsweb.com&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Subject: Re: [THOMPSON-DNA] Haplogroup I1 THOMPSON / THOMSON &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; / THOMPSEN/THOMSEN data summarized&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Hi Diana,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; My name is Robert L &#x22;Bo&#x22; Thompson.  Ysearch EZVQF, FTDNA #36502, &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Thompson Families ID T-32 and and #6 on your DNA page.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; There are a couple of corrections needed to group &#x22;B&#x22;.  The first is &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; that #3 and #5 are the same person.  His name is Art &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Thompson, Ysearch &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; YQ2J2, FTDNA #N24105 &#x26; TF T-110.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; The next problem is that we cannot claim ancestry to any &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Thompson past &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; John Thompson [1767-1847] this is John6 in the ancestry you &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; have given:&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E;  John6, James5, James4, James3, John2, Thomas1 THOMPSON (1598- ) of &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Yorkshire, ENG&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; This mistaken information was printed in the &#x22;Thompson Family &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Magazine&#x22; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Vol 10 No 37 Fall 1971 Pg 86 and has been treated as &#x22;gospel&#x22; since. &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; The confusion came about as there were 2 John Thompsons, who lived in &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; the same area, were pretty close in age, and were members of the same &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Quaker MM [Cane Creek].&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; The James5 you have listed is James &#x22;Quaker Jim&#x22; Thompson &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; III.  He did &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; have a son John but it is not &#x22;my John&#x22;.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; James III&#x27;s will:&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Will book C page 21 written July 1794 &#x26; proved in August 1794 &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; indicates &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; James III&#x27;s son John is an unmarried minor. Another fact is &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; that in 1796 &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; James III&#x27;s son John maried Esther Hastings.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; In 1794 &#x22;my John&#x22; was 27 y/o, had been married to Mary Pike &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; for 6 years &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; and had several children. As a matter of fact they continued to have &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; more children until at least 1805.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; The clincher is that the James III line is of haplogroup &#x22;R&#x22; not &#x22;I&#x22;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; T-47 of the Thompson Families, Don Thompson, has a good paper trail &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; going back to Porter Thompson, another son of Jamesa III.  Don&#x27;s &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Haplogroup is &#x22;R&#x22;.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Art&#x27;s and my line should go no further back than the man &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; listed as John6&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Please correct this on your DNA page.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Thanks!&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Now that that&#x27;s done.  I&#x27;m very pleased with what you are doing.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Keep up the good work!!!!&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Thanks again!&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; Bo&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; robert.l.thompson@gmail.com&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3E; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;

<description>Hi Diana,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;My name is Robert L &#x22;Bo&#x22; Thompson.  Ysearch EZVQF, FTDNA #36502, &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Thompson Families ID T-32 and and #6 on your DNA page.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;There are a couple of corrections needed to group &#x22;B&#x22;.  The first is &#x3C;BR&#x3E;that #3 and #5 are the same person.  His name is Art Thompson, Ysearch &#x3C;BR&#x3E;YQ2J2, FTDNA #N24105 &#x26; TF T-110.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;The next problem is that we cannot claim ancestry to any Thompson past &#x3C;BR&#x3E;John Thompson [1767-1847] this is John6 in the ancestry you have given:&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E; John6, James5, James4, James3, John2, Thomas1 THOMPSON (1598- ) of &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Yorkshire, ENG&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;This mistaken information was printed in the &#x22;Thompson Family Magazine&#x22; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Vol 10 No 37 Fall 1971 Pg 86 and has been treated as &#x22;gospel&#x22; since. &#x3C;BR&#x3E;The confusion came about as there were 2 John Thompsons, who lived in &#x3C;BR&#x3E;the same area, were pretty close in age, and were members of the same &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Quaker MM [Cane Creek].&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;The James5 you have listed is James &#x22;Quaker Jim&#x22; Thompson III.  He did &#x3C;BR&#x3E;have a son John but it is not &#x22;my John&#x22;.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;James III&#x27;s will:&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Will book C page 21 written July 1794 &#x26; proved in August 1794 indicates &#x3C;BR&#x3E;James III&#x27;s son John is an unmarried minor. Another fact is that in 1796 &#x3C;BR&#x3E;James III&#x27;s son John maried Esther Hastings.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;In 1794 &#x22;my John&#x22; was 27 y/o, had been married to Mary Pike for 6 years &#x3C;BR&#x3E;and had several children. As a matter of fact they continued to have &#x3C;BR&#x3E;more children until at least 1805.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;The clincher is that the James III line is of haplogroup &#x22;R&#x22; not &#x22;I&#x22;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;T-47 of the Thompson Families, Don Thompson, has a good paper trail &#x3C;BR&#x3E;going back to Porter Thompson, another son of Jamesa III.  Don&#x27;s &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Haplogroup is &#x22;R&#x22;.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Art&#x27;s and my line should go no further back than the man listed as John6&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Please correct this on your DNA page.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Thanks!&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Now that that&#x27;s done.  I&#x27;m very pleased with what you are doing.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Keep up the good work!!!!&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Thanks again!&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Bo&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;robert.l.thompson@gmail.com&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;

<description>Hello Ron, thank you for responding. &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Checking your record at Ysearch (KBX9S), I see you are Haplogroup R1b. <title>[THOMPSON-DNA] Haplogroup I1 THOMPSON / THOMSON / THOMPSEN / THOMSEN data summarized</title>
<link>http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/THOMPSON-DNA/2008-10/1223648443</link>
<description>Results of testing my THOMPSON cousin (Kit #122567) have recently returned, but&#x3C;BR&#x3E;I found comparing his results in the project data tables difficult.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;While the results in the table at ThompsonFamilies.org are grouped&#x3C;BR&#x3E;http://www.thompsonfamilies.org/results.html&#x3C;BR&#x3E;the table has apparently not been updated since 4 Sep 2007, so my THOMPSON&#x27;s&#x3C;BR&#x3E;results are not included, nor are those of presumably many others tested since&#x3C;BR&#x3E;that date.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;The results table automatically generated by the FTDNA server is always up to&#x3C;BR&#x3E;date:&#x3C;BR&#x3E;http://www.familytreedna.com/public/thompson&#x26;fixed_columns=on &#x3C;BR&#x3E;but it appears to have been a long time since the results were last grouped,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;making it extremely difficult to compare results.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;My THOMPSON is Haplogroup I1, so I decided to extract all the Haplogroup I1&#x3C;BR&#x3E;records from both of the above tables and any other public databases I could&#x3C;BR&#x3E;find and combine them into one table, to make comparisons easier:&#x3C;BR&#x3E;http://dgmweb.net/genealogy/DNA/Thompson/ThompsonDNA-results-HgI1.shtml&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Individuals whose test results indicate a relationship are grouped together, a&#x3C;BR&#x3E;few tentatively.  Experience running six DNA projects for over four years has&#x3C;BR&#x3E;taught me that 12 markers simply isn&#x27;t enough to be certain of a relationship.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;People who match at 12 markers can diverge at 25 markers and more so at 37.  I&#x3C;BR&#x3E;would encourage everyone who has tested only 12 or 25 markers to upgrade to 37&#x3C;BR&#x3E;markers because 37 markers is really the minimum for a secure determination of&#x3C;BR&#x3E;relationship.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;I hope you will find the table useful, and I hope, especially, that you will&#x3C;BR&#x3E;help fill in the missing lineage information.  The more we share, the more we&#x3C;BR&#x3E;advance.  Also, if you know of any Haplogroup I1 THOMPSON that I&#x27;ve missed,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;please alert me.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Diana&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;P.S.  If you are using MSIE (Microsoft Internet Explorer) as your browser, it&#x3C;BR&#x3E;will likely take *forever* to download pages at the FTDNA web site for projects&#x3C;BR&#x3E;that have many members, as the THOMPSON project does, so please be patient if&#x3C;BR&#x3E;you click the above link.  These pages will download quickly if you use Foxfire&#x3C;BR&#x3E;as your browser.  This browser is a free download:&#x3C;BR&#x3E;http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/&#x3C;BR&#x3E;I highly recommend giving it a try, expecially if you access projects at FTDNA&#x3C;BR&#x3E;with any frequency.  You can actually have both MSIE and Foxfire running at the&#x3C;BR&#x3E;same time while you&#x27;re getting use to Foxfire.  &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;

<description>Greetings all,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;If there are any Thompsons on this list that have not yet DNA tested, there are just two days left for FTDNA&#x27;s holiday certificate promotion:&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;http://www.familytreedna.com/giftcert2007.html&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;The deadline has been extended to January 4.  Contact me off-list if you&#x27;d like to test through the Thompson&#x3C;BR&#x3E;project.  If you are not a male with the Thompson surname, but would like to test, there are other projects that you can test through using the certificate, just drop me a line and I&#x27;ll help you with that.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Happy 2008!&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Katherine&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Thompson DNA Project Co-administrator&#x3C;BR&#x3E;http://www.thompsonfamilies.org/&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;
