I extracted one set of values from the FTDNA server-generated web site as Kit #93187. I extracted the other set from the manually-created table at thompsonfamilies.org as #T-160. Both show their earliest ancestor as Ervin THOMPSON (b. 1905, IA) and they match, except for marker DYS472. I'm inclined to think these two are the same person and that a typo was made entering the value for DYS472 for #T-160. If this individual is on the list, I would very much appreciate hearing from you. I believe I have located your Ervin THOMPSON (as Irvin) in the 1930 census of Kossuth Co., IA, with wife Pearl, but I would like to have confirmation that this is the correct Ervin. These are exactly the kinds of corrections I need to whip this table into shape and make it useful. I have merged #3 and #5 into one, who is now #4 (note that this merger has changed everyone's number from there on down). If this individual is a subscriber to the list, or if you can contact him, he needs to upload the rest of his markers to Ysearch. At the moment, he only has 12 markers uploaded, which is why I didn't recognize him as the same person. In general, if you were tested at FTDNA and you uploaded your results to Ysearch, creating an account when the first panel of markers returned, you need to RE-upload your markers again when they have all returned. The server does *not* automatically upload subsequent panels when they return. To upload the standard markers (1-67), go to the "Y-DNA Matches" tab on your member page and click the link there. If you had any "advanced" markers tested (beyond the standard 67), you need to enter those into your Ysearch account manually by going to Ysearch and choosing "Edit an Existing User." If you access Ysearch by using the link on your FTDNA member page, it will automatically enter your ID for you, though you'll still need to give your password to edit your account. I've also made the corrections to your lineages, stopping with John THOMPSON (1767-1847). One of us should go to WorldConnect and add Postem's to the files there that connect John to James5, James4, James3, John2, Thomas1 THOMPSON (1598- ) of Yorkshire, ENG -- in our spare time? The files can be pulled up by searching on John THOMPSON with spouse PIKE. While the results in the table at ThompsonFamilies.org are grouped http://www.thompsonfamilies.org/results.html the table has apparently not been updated since 4 Sep 2007, so my THOMPSON's results are not included, nor are those of presumably many others tested since that date. The results table automatically generated by the FTDNA server is always up to date: http://www.familytreedna.com/public/thompson&fixed_columns=on but it appears to have been a long time since the results were last grouped, making it extremely difficult to compare results. My THOMPSON is Haplogroup I1, so I decided to extract all the Haplogroup I1 records from both of the above tables and any other public databases I could find and combine them into one table, to make comparisons easier: http://dgmweb.net/genealogy/DNA/Thompson/ThompsonDNA-results-HgI1.shtml Individuals whose test results indicate a relationship are grouped together, a few tentatively. Experience running six DNA projects for over four years has taught me that 12 markers simply isn't enough to be certain of a relationship. People who match at 12 markers can diverge at 25 markers and more so at 37. I would encourage everyone who has tested only 12 or 25 markers to upgrade to 37 markers because 37 markers is really the minimum for a secure determination of relationship. I hope you will find the table useful, and I hope, especially, that you will help fill in the missing lineage information. The more we share, the more we advance.
