<description>Phyliss&#x3C;BR&#x3E;I noticed you are from Canada by your email address, you can go to your &#x3C;BR&#x3E;local library, and order in this film from the archives of Canada at  no &#x3C;BR&#x3E;cost, it will come to the library and you can view it on their machines (it &#x3C;BR&#x3E;will be on a reel), this is the one that will have your man on it, it should &#x3C;BR&#x3E;give you a good amount of information on him, if he was discharged and why &#x3C;BR&#x3E;etc&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;B-5670	1622	79th Foot	1855-1872	 	Adams - Lynch&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Just take that information into the library it will take 2-4 weeks for the &#x3C;BR&#x3E;reel to come in, they usually give you about two weeks to view it and then &#x3C;BR&#x3E;it gets sent back&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Cathy&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;

<link>http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/UK-79TH-REGIMENT/2008-02/1203628623</link>
<description>I am trying to find out information re: John Clark, 20 years in 1856 when his mother applied for poor relief, he was listed as being a soldier in the 79th Regiment. In the 1861 census, he is with his mother and listed as 25 years, unmarried, an apprentice bricklayer and having been born in Glasgow, Lanarkshire. I guess that means he left the regiment sometime between 1856-1861?&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Any suggestions to find out more information about his army record?&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Phyllis McConnachie&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;

<title>[UK-79TH-REGIMENT] Gen Draper's campaign in Manila</title>
<link>http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/UK-79TH-REGIMENT/2007-05/1179679529</link>
<description>I am looking for individuals with surname Grey who may have been part of Gen William Draper's 79th Regiment when the British captured Manila from Spanish forces in 1762. The British occupied Manila for 2 years before ceding the city to Spain at the end of the 7 years war. I am descended from a Grey who must have sired a son because the Grey name has endured in the Philippines up to present. The earliest name we can trace Manuel Grey (b.1790) must have been a grandson of the original Grey. Any help I can get would be most appreciated.&#x3C;BR&#x3E; &#x3C;BR&#x3E; Edgardo Grey&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E; &#x3C;BR&#x3E;---------------------------------&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Looking for a deal? <title>[UK-79TH-REGIMENT] a military question please</title>
<link>http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/UK-79TH-REGIMENT/2007-04/1176075828</link>
<description>Hi there&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;This has nothing to do with the UK-79TH.-REGIMENT but there is only one &#x3C;BR&#x3E;Military list I can find for the UK so please don't mind my question.  My &#x3C;BR&#x3E;great uncle AMOS FREDERICK DAVIS died in Rawal Pindi on Jan. 27, 1899, &#x3C;BR&#x3E;private&#x3C;BR&#x3E;4337 of Enteric Fever aged 23. He was born in Kent England. He was in the &#x3C;BR&#x3E;1st Battallion of the Royal Scots Fusiliers. Can anyone please tell me how I &#x3C;BR&#x3E;can find where he enlisted and if he could have entry papers to the army how &#x3C;BR&#x3E;I could get them. Or perhaps there is another list I should join that I &#x3C;BR&#x3E;don't know about. I have his death certificate.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;thanks so much&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Judy in Canada &#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;
