There are a lot of people and many different resources. I have done some of the census research. Some of it is my family information. Harriett Catherine Ultz was my great grandmother. I know some of it is documented and some of it is from undocumented sources. It is a guideline.

Again if you have more specific questions I my be able to answer better.

Judy Hawman
jlhawman@earthlink.net

Important Note:
The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I think it depends upon how recent you are researching your roots. The majority of my lines are way back in the 1700's so I don't think it would do me that much good. It IS pricey.
If you'd like to email privately instead of through this bulletin board, contact me at vicki@gotodq.com I can suggest some good websites for free research for you to begin your search. I assume if we go back far enough our Ultz, etc. are connected as it is not a particularly common name.

Our Ultsch/Ulsh's are all over the U. S. now, but initially they remained for nearly one hundred years in Pennsylvania where the original settler landed. There are Ulsh's in Florida, North Carolina, Minnesota, Nebraska, Alaska..... really everywhere, but nearly all the ones in Washington state where I am are descended from one ancestor who came out from originally Pennsylvania though through Nebraska to settle in about 1890 as I recall. Good luck and contact me personally for some suggestions of where to look online.

vicki

I mean, are the sources really trustable?
I had told you that I wanted to offer an original present to my father for his 70th birthday, this membership would have been an original one, but as I told you, he doesn't master the English language......understands hardly anything, whereas I'm a teacher, so I'd have to translate all the documents for him....and that's a lot of work, and I'm pretty busy with my job these days.......so, I'm not knowing what to do exactly...may be you could give me some advice, tell me your opinion on this subject, and tell me me what would you do if you were in my position!
where are you located exactly? you said on the west coast, I would have thought that the Ultsch stayed on the east coast, we, the Euiropean Ultsch's are next to the German border, so in the east of France , not far from a city called Metz. and in my city, we've got the biggest American military cemetary, for WW2.
thanks
Catherien

I remember a cousin who did some genealogical research, I'll ask him for his results!and tell you about of course!
so far,best regards!
are you named ULTSCH?
catherine

We are on the west coast of the U. S. and only know for sure that our ancestor left on a ship for America from Hamburg and claimed to be from "Saxony" which in the 1700's was a pretty large part of Germany. We suspect that Andreas was from Domnitz/Garsena area in Germany which is no where near France but we cannot find records to prove that yet.
Our ancestor is Johann Andreas Ultsch who was born in Germany about 1734 and came to America in 1752, dying in Pennsylvania about 1804 if any of that info helps you?

The good news is Ultsch etc. is not a common name apparently!

Vicki
