<title>[DENBIGHSHIRE] Morris Evans b1790</title>
<link>http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/WLS-DENBIGHSHIRE/2008-11/1226669579</link>
<description>Hello Denbighshire list,&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;My ggggrandfather&#x27;s convict records show that he was a &#x27;native&#x27; of Denbighshire.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;His name is Morris Evans (later spelt as Maurice), and his convict records indicate he was born in 1790, although his death certificate states that he was 84 when he died on 2 August 1871. His death certificate cannot be said to be a very reliable document.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;He was convicted of possessing forged notes in Aberystwyth at the Cardigan Great Sessions on 29 March 1820 and transported to New South Wales later the same year. I have copies of the indictments from the National Library of Wales (very helful they were too!). Another researcher has sent me transcriptions of the Witness Statements of the case, but I am unsure where they are from.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;There is nothing on the records available to me to tell me anything about his family in Wales, his parents or siblings. (I do beleve he was single when he left Wales). His death certificate leaves his parent&#x27;s name blank, although it does state Denbighshire as place of birth.&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;I am looking for some help in discovering more about Morris and his family&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;thank you&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;Garry&#x3C;BR&#x3E;&#x3C;BR&#x3E;
