Hi,
To correct an error, Richard enlisted on 10 May 1861, Co. I, 5th Infantry Regiment, Wisconsin, listed as deserter later that same year. Later, his widow Myra, was receiving a Civil War pension, so must have gotten the desertion straightened out.
Jerry

Arch Yeomans <yeomanrycavalry@gmail.com> wrote:
Yeah, Same here. Some gentleman who is a civil war re- enactor is researching a
Yeomans who fought in the Civil War. It's been a while since I've
corresponded with him. I'll have to rummage through my old computer files to see who it
was.

On 6/19/07, Lois Yeomans wrote:
> Hello, Arch,
> Glad to hear from another branch of the Yeomans family tree. So far I
> haven't found any connections through the vast amount of data found on
> the CD ROM. I'm really having to depend on DNA as the written records
> appear to be scarce. It will take a long time this way but at least I
> can have some validation with my DNA tests. Just need some Yeomans
> male test subjects. So far only 3 have tested with Family Tree DNA (no
> connections) and I'm hoping to get a connect with a British genetic
> donor. I'm fortunate enough to have a rare haplogroup or deep subclade
> R1b1c6, so any Yeomans found within R1b1c6 will be a happy moment
> especially if I can get back to the European ancestry. I'm pretty much
> stonewalled in 1886 with John W. Yeomans in Boston, MA. Though there
> are indicators of Canadian immigration with his parents (father from
> England and mother from Ireland). My educated guess is my family
> originated out of SW England or Wales as the Irish population is
> strongest in this region and my DNA ancestry is mostly found in this
> region of the Britain. Since John W. Yeomans mentioned his father is
> from England, I could only guess Bristol to the region of Plymouth. It
> fits nicely with the rarity of R1b1c6 found in England (3%) and it is
> mostly found in Iberia (Basque Country 11%, Catalonia 22%). Quite
> interesting, as I always thought we were English Anglo-Saxon through
> and through, wrong!!!!! Researching maritime routes, Plymouth seems to
> be a major connector city to Iberian ports of call (Bilbao, Santander,
> Donostia, etc.) and that maritime tradition may go back way in
> antiquity such as the Late Bronze Age or early Iron Age. I could only
> suspect Plymouth being the port of entry to Britain for my line of the
> Yeomans family.
Hello, Arch,
Glad to hear from another branch of the Yeomans family tree. Have been stuck with my line going back only as far as Richard William Yeomans, apparently born in Wisconsin in 1837. Found his Civil War enlistment record in 1867 in Wisconsin, but unable to get back from there.
Jerry Yeomans (LAYeomans@Prodigy.Net)

Arch Yeomans <yeomanrycavalry@gmail.com> wrote:
Thanks. Ann Hayes is a great resource for Yeomans genealogy. She is
usually lurking around Rootsweb and other Genealogy forums. She
informed me that Mr. Youman's book (which I have on CD by the way) is
a hodge podge of data of many Yeomans lines not related. So far I
haven't found any connections through the vast amount of data found on
I have yet a long way to go before I get definitive
answers.

Sorry for the lengthy reply, my only hope is to encourage male Yeomans
to have their y-DNA tested.

Arch Yeomans

On 6/18/07, ancienttones@aol.com wrote:
>
> I don't have it with me right now, but there is a Yeomans-Yeamans genealogy available through some site on the internet.
I've "rescued" an old photograph of James BOYD Jr. with what would appear to
be his Mother. The photograph was taken at the Lemer Studio in Harrisburg,
Pennsylvania when James was just an infant.
