The Louisiana Society Order of Confederate Rose is the one putting up the
Historical Markers. The state has to approve the historical accuracy and
then the marker cost $1700 apiece. They will be putting one up at Georgia
Landing in the very near future.
They put one at Sterling plantation a few years back and we were able to
camp on the battlefield. The sugar house where Spaight's fought has long
been gone, but you can go to the spot where they stood. Bricks are still
there and I was able to collect one. It is out in the middle of a sugar
cane field.
There is a local man named Buck Tucker that is an expert on the area and
the battle. He is usually more than glad to show people around.
