I am looking for information about my wife's g.g.grandfather, Samuel
Dixon Abercrombie born 1 April 1841 in Indiana. He married Eleanor
Ellen Linder (born 1844 in Ohio) on 4 Jan 1866. the following is an
exerpt from a family history of their daughter, Emily M. Lash:

"The following is an attempt at writing the history of the Abercrombie
family. There is no recorded history of persons or dates of the
Abercrombies. Three families enter into the family history. The
Abercrombies are of French and Scottish ancestry. The Linders purely
Scotch and the Story family too, I think were mostly Scotch.

Years ago the three families settled in northern Missouri. The
Abercrombies from Indiana, the Linders from Ohio and the Storys from
Pennsylvania.

The Abercrombie family consisted of the parents and three sons, Samuel
Dixon and his brothers Issac and Frank. They established a farm house
near Sticklerville. I do not know the year. I do know that Samuel D.
was born in 1841, that his father died when he was in his early teens.
The family continued living on the farm and that Samuel D. assumed much
responsibility when he was quite young. His mother died shortly before
the Civil War. He entered the service of his country at its very
beginning and served for the duration in the Union army. In the
meantime the farm was sold and the money invested in a farm 15 miles
west of Kirksville, Mo.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
