Subject: [ABERCROMBIE-L] ADAM ABERCROMBIE c1804-1849

Hello,
I am hoping that other Abercrombie/y researchers may be able to help me. I
have searched for the last 3 years for info regarding my gggrandfather Adam
Abercrombie, to no avail. Adam, who was born c1804 ?Scotland, arrived in
South Australia in 1838. He was a timber merchant/wheelright. He paid his
own fare here which means that there are no emigration records for him. In
1840 he married Mary McLean in South Australia . His marriage certificate
states that his last parish was "the parish of St Ninians, Stirlingshire".
Adam was a founding member of the United Presbyterian Church in South
Australia. This would account for me not being able to find his family
data in the Scottish Records information. The last Adam baptism listed in
the IGI for Stirlingshire or anywhere else in Scotland was baptized in 1743.

Our Adam died in South Australia in 1849. He may have been related to a
Peter Abercrombie born c1815 who died in Western Australia in c1863. Peter
was a timber importer/public accountant.

Any info whatsoever will be appreciated. I am hoping that someone might
have him in their database.

Regards,
Ellen White,
