John Hamilton was a son of James Samuel and Mary Hamilton Abercrombie. We

First of all, if I might side-step your question - which son or daughter of
John Hamilton do you descend from?
I have John Hamilton ABERCROMBIE and Rebecca MONTGOMERY as having 8
children (James Samuel, Mary, Milcha, Young F. Lafayette, Hiram Nimrod,
George Washington Bartow, John Newton Jasper, Sallie (Sarah Ann).

Now hopping backwards to your question - I have:

James ABERCROMBIE, Jr. and Mary HAMILTON having 6 children:

(William, Wilson, James Columbus, Sallie, John Hamilton, Jane (Jennie)).
