Hi Howard,
I read with interest the fact that you are a member of the Great North of
Scotland Railway Association as I thought that you may be able to help me.
My great grandfather,James DUTHIE worked on the railways in Aberdeen as a
railway engine driver and/or as a railway plate layer. In 1897 he was
killed in a railway accident just before my grandmother was born. My great
grandmother got some sort of a payout and opened a sweet shop in Aberdeen.
What I want to know is are there any records within your association which
may record this accident. I have written to the Aberdeen Library asking
them to check archived copies of the Press and Journal for that year but
have not yet heard from them.
Can you help or at least point me in the right direction ???
Many thanks,
Fiona Moore
