Don answered Irene's query on location of Straloch etc.

If Irene's document is specifically for the area around New Machar, then I
suspect the Overtoun in question is now Overton, overlooking Dyce airport -
which borders on New Machar [parish of old], mainly a business park & car
dump - sorry. However, mid-last cent. it was still a farm, so that might be
what Irene's looking for. Netherton, I suspect went either with the
building of the Great N of Scotland Rlwy in 1856-7 or, perhaps with the
building of the airport at Dyce. Can't help on that one, but almost
certainly they were within reach of one another,' nether' describing its
position in lower-lying land.

p.s. Don: was terribly impressed with your knowledge on the 'scaffy'. There
were actually still scaffies sweeping Union Street in the late 'fifties!
As schoolgirls 'walking the mat' [awful expression - implies so much more
seedy occupation], you had to avoid them, because they sure as dammit
weren't going to avoid you. You've got a long arm from NZ!
