Hello Everyone
A BIG public THANK YOU to MARINA for her untiring efforts in assisting me
with my family research.
As there at least 3 of us on this list with an interest in BRAEHEAD OF
MONYMUSK, I will summarize the information I have located on the farm and
its inhabitants.

Braehead Farmhouse, c. 1830
Solid, three-bay granite farmhouse of some pretension (block cornices to
windows and canted dormers) which pales to insignificance against the
grandeur of the great U-plan steading adjacent. Remarkable stretched ranges
in coursed rubble, with lofts and cart sheds and an odd, Tudor-style,
detached block with steep roof, hipped at the east and cut back for
openings.

Braehead, Monymusk: an unusual parchmark produced in the dry summer of
1989. It shows the very narrow wall of a large timber house of the first
millenium BC, enclosed by a neat circular ditch. The paired post-holes at
the entrance to the house are just discernable.

VALENTINE d there 31 Jan 1868 aged 82.
My Watt ancestors originated in Knockollochy, Chapel of Garioch and moved to
Haddoch of Monymusk sometime between 1820 and 1841, moved on to Braehead
sometime between 1854 and 1861 and left there sometime between April 1871
and 1881 so may or may not have been tenants under the new owner, JAMES
GORDON.
BRAEHEAD is approximately 1 mile north of the village of Monymusk and is
just north of Lord Cullen's School and west of the River Don.
For IRENE CUNNINGHAM:
BURNTISLAND is a parish in Fife, perhaps by checking the Genuki site at
http://sol.co.uk/w/w.owen/genuki/FIF/index.htm you can find out a little
about the area. It appears to be directly across the Firth of Forth from
Edinburgh.
AN ENVIOUS HELLO TO ALL THOSE ATTENDING THE GORDON 2000 REUNION IN THE
HUNTLY AREA
That's it from northern Alberta
