I don't believe I thanked you for your response to my question about the
Incorporation of Hammermen. I was off work for 4 days and it took a while to
plough through all the email! I appreciate that you took the time to search
for my CURRIE/CARRIE ancestors in your copy of "The History of The Hammermen
of Glasgow".
Could you (or anyone on the list) give me a bit of a briefing on the
Censuses that I keep seeing reference to. I am wondering if these were
County (if that's the right word in Scotland) censuses, or if it is only the
indexes that are arranged by county? What I'm trying to figure out is, if
someone didn't find my ancestor on a census for Angus for 1891, should I be
trying to find them on a census for Aberdeen or Perth or Fife, etc.?
And, I know someone asked what years the censuses were done, but all my
saved messages for the last few days have gone into cyberspace at the moment
and I can't find the responses!
Thank you for your help
Ruth Atwood
