There is still a Brethren Church in Aberdeen-[Open Brethren] It is in a
small street- I believe Rose Street- just behind the main street Union
St. On the L hand side, near the top as you go DOWN Union Street.
I lived in Aberdeen for a few years and as a child our 'church' was the
Open Brethren in Sunderland Co. Durham.
Marriages will be recorded as all others in the GRO. At every marriage a
Registrar from the local office was present to record the event. There
were no christenings, and burials were in unconsecrated ground.
If your ancestors were prominent in the movement, I have an old book
entitled 'Chief Men Among the Brethren'. Betty
