I am trying to find information on some Milnes. Alexander (born abt. 1826)
had two sons, Alexander (born abt. 1858 in Scotland) and William (born
1859 after the family moved to London). They seem to have originated in
Aberdeen, and still had family there. I have correspondence concerning
a Charles Milne (clearly related but I'm not certain exactly how yet) who
lived at 35 Skene Terrrace, Old Machar, in 1886. Unfortunately, this part
of Skene Terrace seems to be missing from the 1881 census (at least the
CD-ROM version). Charles had a brother John, who emigrated to America before
1860 and died there (?Philadelphia) in about 1885/6.

As a final clue, Bannerman seems to crop up as a middle name in some of
the later family.

Does any of this ring any bells?
