is "Dykeneuk, Premnay, Insch". I did not find a place name of Premnay in
Insch. Why would the address list 2 parishes ? And I'm assuming Dykeneuk
must be a place name or possibly a cottage. Could it just be that the
address was on the border of the 2 parishes ??

Hi Beverly,
I too have an interest in Dykeneuk, Premnay, although it
appears as Dykenook in records which I have consulted. (Same pronunciation,
different spelling.) From the 1841 (and 1851) Census, it appears to be next
to Westside of Overhall and near Mains of Overhall and Broomend. The latter
two are still shown on todays maps and lie in the North-east corner of
Premnay Parish. Inch lies very close to the boundry at this point.
Could I possibly ask about the sender and recipient of the
letter referred to above. My interest is as follows:-
I have a Mary Ingram G2 Grandmother married David McKay at Dykenook,
Premnay on 30th may 1856. Witnesses James Milne and Alex Watt.
Marys mother Janet Howie died here on 6th Feb 1861. Reporter at
death was James Milne, Son-in-law.
1841 Census
Westside of Overhall
Alex Watt, Farmer and family
James Milne, Millwright
Dykenook
John Watt, Farmer and family
1851 Census
Dykenook
James Milne, Ann Milne (my Mary Ingrams sister) and
family.
Dykenook
Alex Watt and family
I do not yet have the info from 1861 Census but would like to know your
interest before checking further.
