Surname: Calder, Cumming
-------------------------

Dear Beverly: It's unlikely my Calder line is related to yours, but you
can never be sure: Aberdonians have always been a restless crew.I may have
some link to the Calders who lived in the parish of Belhelvie just south
of Ellon.
You will need to look up the parish entries for each Margaret christening/birth,
and compare those with the parish entry or registry entry for her wedding.
Look in the witnesses to each for some clues. You'll be able to access
copies of the original parish registers at your nearest Latter Day Saints
Family History Centre, or in Edinburgh, or at the NE Scotland FH society
premises in Aberdeen. Mgt's wedding cert/ parish entry may show who her
parents were. You can get that over the 'net now directly from the Registrar
in Edinburgh.
Ellon was a country market town servicing the farming districts all around
in Formantine. In its heyday people came and went on farming matters. There
are a few big estates nearby with lots of servants, some of whom could
be from anywhere. Jones sounds foreign to Ellon.
Cumming of course is from Comyn, hence Cumineston (sp?) and is a Buchan
name.
Good luck!
Fraser Henderson.
