Subject: [ABERDEEN] Lewis/Leslie

> Last week, I found a letter written in 1930 to "My Dear Cousin" (I think
this was my grandfather) here in Canada from an Eliza Leslie, sending
condolences on the death of his mother, her "Auntie Margaret". Eliza's
address was 70 Fountainhall (?) Road in Aberdeen. I know her mother was
Elizabeth WILLIAMS who married a John LEWIS in 1864, and that their daughter
Elizabeth Jane Bisset LEWIS, was born in 1868 in Saint Nicholas. In the
letter she mentions that her brother Andrew (Andrew Jopp Williams LEWIS, b.
1875) is the manager of their family firm, John Lewis & Sons Ltd. ("there
are five of us in the firm"). She mentions another brother Richard (Richard
Watson LEWIS, b. 1865) as the eldest of the family. The family names agree
with IGI information I've found on the LDS website. She says that she has 2
daughters and 1 son, and that the eldest daughter lives in Rio de Janeiro,
where her husband is with Western Telegraph Co. and the other will be
getting married at the end!

existed in 1930? (I am aware of the dept. stores in the U.K. by this name,
but cannot imagine that they would be one and the same.)
