Hi Listers

Taking some good advice and posting these very particular q's on the list.
These questions have long been in my mind and am hoping someone may have
insight! Any information on any of these questions will be greatly
appreciated! No small insight will be considered small!

Netherthird Tollbar, Auchterless ......does this mean 'lower third?"

Boynsmill Tollbar, Forgue.....is this the tollbar near Boynsmill house, now
a distillery called Glendronach House? Are / were these people Grants?

Is Clifton House still standing in Insch?

Have you ever heard of Dawson's Property in Premnay?

My gggrandfather was a tollbooth keeper and then a road contractor (foreman)
after the toll roads went 'free'. I've always been curious about these homes
and their names. I even wrote T.C. Smout about it, and much to my absolute
happiness, he took the time to write me back some. (felt honored, expected
one of his interns or something, if anything) He wrote me back about the
general socio-economics of tollbooth keeping during the mid 1800's until the
roads went free. "Generally stable in an uncertain time" Due to the fact
that my gggrandfather Alexander GRANT kept moving to another tollbooth house
after each one would close, it always seemed to me that 'someone' was
looking out for him and his rather large family. Still haven't tracked down
his parents though. One of my mysteries...

Anyhow, any insight or opinions about these places or names or general
scenario would be so very appreciated!

Thanks!
