Hello Ted & Judy -
Jean or Jane Johnston(e) was my gggrandmother on my father's side. I
don't have much information, but here it is ----

JOHNSTON(E) line -

James JOHNSTON (E) b.1740 - Farnell (occ. ploughman/farmer)
married
Jean BLACK (b.1743) on Nov. 25, 1763 in Farnell
We only know of one son -
James JOHNSTON(E) (b. Mar. 15, 1765 - Farnell) married
Helen EDWARD (B.Apr. 15, 1773 - Inverkeillor) on Aug. 3, 1813

We only know of one daughter -
Jean (Jane) JOHNSTON (E) (B. DEc. 28, 1813 - Kinnell) married to
Alexander Syman BIRSE (b. Jan 18,1818)

If there is a connection, I have further information that I would be
pleased to share.
