Hello Kate

I'm not descended from the Tochers of Newhills - mine are from Auchterless.
However when looking for my great grandfather William Tocher born 1864 in
the 1891 census I found this family at Newhills. This could be your family
in case you don't already have it.

1891 Newhills, Lower Buxburn
Lindsay's Buildings
Jane Tocher, Head, widow, 54, Living on Private means, born Strathdon, 3
rooms with windows
William Tocher, son, unm, 28, Paper maker, employed, born Newhills
Alexr Tocher, son, unm, 26, paper maker, employed, born Newhills
Maggie Tocher, daur, unm, 17, Dressmaker, employed, born Newhills
