Greg,
Your local LDS Family History Center gives you access to the microfilms of
the Ellon church books and earlier censuses (to 1841). I should note that
most of the entries in the church books before official registration was
required (1855) are in the online databases at the LDS FamilySearch
website. The LDS microfilm numbers for Ellon are given on the LDS IGI
marriage entry for that couple. The fathers of the bride and groom may be
on the actual OPR (Old Parish Register) entry where those data were extracted.
There is also a for-pay official Scotland site that has those data and the
data after 1855. It also contains scanned images of many of the actual
records (official BMD and census) at http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/.
I might also suggest you consider joining the Aberdeen & North-East
Scotland Family History Society. See their webpage at
http://www.anesfhs.force9.co.uk/index.htm. They are also a good resource.
