Subject: [ABERDEEN] RORIE in Aberdeen, Angus, Glen Tanar?

I wonder if anyone ahs any connection to the Rorie family.
Dr David Rorie (1867-1946) was a doctor, poet and author, and latterly lived
and died in Aberdeen. Perhaps his most famous writing was the Lum Hat Wantin'
the Croon.
He was the son of my great-great-uncle.
I have information on the Rories back to a George Rorie (married 1775 in
Marykirk), and his descendants. He was reputedly a baggage carrier at Culloden.
Family records suggests that the Rories came from Glen Tanar, but there I
have come up against a brick wall and can get no further back.
The Rories are a sept of the Macdonald clan, descended from Amy Macruaridh,
wife of John Lord of the Isles (I think!)
I would be interested to hear from anyone who knows anything about the
Rories.
Jane Macintyre (nee Rorie)
