Wendy: I doubt very much if 15 was too young for marriage in the 1700.
I knew 2 cases in Canada, in the 1950's, where the bride was 14, this was in Saskatchewan and the other was in Ontario, and the bride was 15.
These were not usual, in fact so unusual they made the papers, as the parents lost the Mother's Allowance, which normally went on to the age of 16.
None the less they took place.
