My gggrandfather was also James DAVIDSON, born in Scotland, quite likely in Aberdeenshire, but c1800 according to his tombstone. (see information copied below). Although I have not yet discovered his father's name, it may quite possibly be George as he did name his first son George.
I am copying below the information on him in the hopes that we may be able to make some connection. I would gladly exchange information with anyone who feels they have connections. I have lots more information on his descendants.
